What & why

• An agent or a person who changes the SDK's UI has no scripted way to prove the change on an emulator. This PR adds end-to-end tests and a CLI that runs them, as a Node package in e2e-tests/.
• The tests are an ordinary e2e project. npx e2e run <test file> runs one when the environment names a running emulator by its serial, the :e2e debug APK, and the publishable key and secret key of a Clerk development instance. e2e-tests/README.md has the commands.
• The CLI, e2e-tests/bin/control-clerk-android, sits on top of the tests. It builds the :e2e APK, boots an emulator, creates a Clerk application to test against, runs the tests, and keeps a video, screenshots, and the app log as evidence. Under the CLI the test process never holds the application's secret key. The verify-clerk-android skill at .claude/skills/verify-clerk-android/ is the instructions an agent reads. It holds SKILL.md, references/, and one page per feature in features/, and they point at the package.

• The CLI has six verbs: doctor, up, run, screen, attach, and down. It needs Node 24.8.0 or newer.
• Every test starts at the test app's home and taps to the view it needs, as a user does. The launch extras from test(e2e): configure the e2e host from verify launch extras #1041 choose the Clerk instance and the user, and the tests find SDK controls by the test tags from feat(ui): add stable test tags to the prebuilt Compose views #1040. They assert on what a user sees, and the prebuilt views are untouched.
• e2e-tests/specs/golden/ holds the end-to-end tests, 19 tests in 14 files for eight features. They cover the start screen, sign-in with an email code and with an SMS code, a custom sign-in form on the SDK's API, sign-up with an email and with a phone number, the profile with sign-out and account deletion, the setup-MFA and choose-organization tasks, finishing the setup-MFA task with an authenticator code after a sign-in and after a sign-up, and creating an organization.
• up creates one throwaway Clerk application for the worktree through Clerk's Platform API, and down deletes it with every user in it. A test file that needs other settings than the standard ones in e2e-tests/src/core/instances/base.json declares them in a .settings.json file beside it. No file holds the application's secret key. A command that needs it reads it from the Platform API and keeps it in memory. Under the CLI the tests reach Clerk's Backend API through a stand-in on the same machine, in e2e-tests/src/core/broker.ts, which forwards only the three kinds of request they make, for test users of that run.
• A run's evidence also has driver/, a filtered copy of the device driver's log, kept so that a failure in the driver can be diagnosed. The filter keeps a line only when it knows the line's whole shape, and writes it again from fixed words, numbers, and times, so typed text, labels, and messages are left out. On Android the driver writes little, about 1 KB a run. One limit is known: redaction matches a secret's exact spelling and would miss an encoded form. The driver's log carries no request bodies.
• The emulator runs on the machine that runs the CLI, which needs the Android SDK, the Android 36 system image, and on Linux a usable /dev/kvm.
• The tests' config sets up e2e's built-in agent only when the environment has a Vercel AI Gateway key. No committed test uses the agent, and CI passes no key.
• In android-test.yml, a new e2e-runner-tests job runs the package's unit tests and tsc when the package changed, and the unit-test matrix gains :e2e. Neither uses an emulator or a secret. renovate.json leaves e2e-tests/** alone, because doctor checks the pinned versions.

The unit tests for all of the code arrive together in commit 6, so the commits before it do not pass a test run by themselves.

• Every worktree on a machine shares the emulators that src/platform/android/local.ts boots. The CLI marks each emulator it boots, and it kills or drives only an emulator that carries its own mark.
• The Platform API key never comes from the repository. The CLI reads CLERK_PLATFORM_API_KEY, or a file named by CLERK_PLATFORM_API_KEY_FILE, or asks the 1Password CLI. It refuses any workspace except the team's verification workspace, whose id is in src/core/instances/platform.ts.
• A tap is repeated while a screen transition covers its control, and a launch is tried twice. Tagged Compose Button nodes need tapMiddle from specs/compose.ts, because agent-device refuses a plain tap on a node whose whole box belongs to its children.
• The authenticator screens, the Security screen, and the delete-account sheet have no test tags, so three tests find the setup key, Continue, and Delete account by their text. The tests compute the authenticator code from the key on the screen, with totp in specs/totp.ts. A password sign-in past the password screen, the setup-MFA task with an SMS code, social providers, passkeys, and biometrics have no test.
• npm test --prefix e2e-tests passes 520 of 520 at this head with no network, key, or emulator, and npm run typecheck --prefix e2e-tests reports nothing. ci: run the end-to-end tests in the release workflow, and remove the Trailblaze suite #1052 runs the 19 end-to-end tests on CI and has the result.
