intercepts it and an unstubbed access can fail before the cancellation
assertions. Reuse the enterprise Factor from the sign-in’s supportedFirstFactors

MockK official documentation mockkStatic all functions in file strict unstubbed invocation default answer
💡 Result:
Yes. **`mockkStatic` mocks the whole generated JVM class for a Kotlin file**, not only the function you pass. So calls to other top-level functions in that file are intercepted too. The official docs also note that mocking one function clears existing mocks for other functions declared in the same file. ([github.com](https://github.com/mockk/mockk?utm_source=openai))
Static mocks are **strict by default**: an intercepted call without a configured answer throws `MockKException` (“no answer found”). You can stub the call with `every { … } returns …`, or use relaxed behavior where supported. ([github.com](https://github.com/mockk/mockk?utm_source=openai))
That strict-default detail is stated in the docs for regular mocks; the page doesn’t separately spell out the default answer behavior for every static-mock case. ([github.com](https://github.com/mockk/mockk?utm_source=openai))

MockK 1.14.11 source StaticMockFactory unstubbed static mock default answer strict MockKStub defaultAnswer
💡 Result:
In MockK **1.14.11**, an unstubbed static call is strict by default: `MockKStub.defaultAnswer` throws `MockKException` (“no answer found”) unless the stub is relaxed or the call is explicitly stubbed. MockK’s docs state that mocks are strict by default, and the source search did not surface the exact 1.14.11 files to verify the implementation directly. ([github.com](https://github.com/mockk/mockk?utm_source=openai))
I couldn’t establish from the available sources exactly how `StaticMockFactory` in **1.14.11** constructs or configures its stub. The closest source-level evidence is an older MockK issue showing `MockKStub.defaultAnswer` on the “no answer found” exception path; it is not proof of the 1.14.11 implementation. (GitHub issue 170 in mockk/mockk (link omitted to avoid creating a cross-reference))

🌐 Web query:
github mockk 1.14.11 StaticMockFactory MockKStub defaultAnswer source code static mock strict
💡 Result:
The relevant implementation is in the MockK GitHub repository, but I couldn’t verify the **1.14.11** source at the requested paths: those paths returned 404, and the search results didn’t expose the versioned files.
For context, MockK’s `1.14.11` artifact is listed on Maven Central, and a historical MockK stack trace shows `MockKStub.defaultAnswer` throwing when no answer is configured. That trace is not evidence for the exact 1.14.11 implementation. ([central.sonatype.com](https://central.sonatype.com/artifact/io.mockk/mockk/1.14.11?utm_source=openai))
So I can’t confirm from the available sources how `StaticMockFactory` creates its stub or how `defaultAnswer` handles an unstubbed static call in 1.14.11. ([]())

Stub startingFirstFactor in this test.
mockkStatic intercepts top-level members in SignInExtensions.kt, including the startingFirstFactor getter. AuthStartViewModel reads that getter before it starts enterprise SSO. The test stubs the SSO call but not the getter, so MockK's strict default can stop the test before its cancellation assertions.

Swap every old-layer auth call in source/ui for its Clerk.auth / step-verb equivalent from the #1034 matrix. Requests are unchanged. First-factor code attempts keep attemptFirstFactor because signIn.verifyCode infers the strategy instead of taking the one the UI chose.
…ends SignInAttemptHandlerTest verified verifyMfaCode(any(), any()), so a handler sending the wrong MfaType still passed. It now verifies the exact code and type. SignUpCodeViewModel's email/phone mapping had no test at all.

Why
Architecture review finding #9, second half: "Make
Clerk.authprimary and fill its gaps... Move the prebuilt UI onto it, then deprecate the old layer." #1026 → #1034 → #1035 made every old entry point call one canonical implementation and filled the facade gaps the UI needed. This PR moves the prebuilt UI onto the facade, following the "Prebuilt UI call sites → facade equivalent" table in #1034. It is the UI-migration step before the deprecation PR.Stack: #1026 → #1034 → #1035 → this PR → deprecation PR (stacked on this one).
Scope
Call-site swaps only. Each new call sends the same request as the old one, because the facade method delegates to the same implementation (see the #1034 matrix):

SignInAttemptHandlerstill callsattemptFirstFactor(EmailCode / PhoneCode / ResetPasswordEmailCode / ResetPasswordPhoneCode). The matrix maps it tosignIn.verifyCode(code), butverifyCodeinfers the strategy fromfirstFactorVerification, while the UI attempts the factor shown on screen. The two diverge only when that factor's prepare failed and an older verification for a different strategy is still on the sign-in. The old code then attempts the on-screen strategy, andverifyCodewould attempt the older one. Since behaviour has to stay identical, attemptFirstFactorstays here. #1039 leavesattemptFirstFactorun-deprecated until the facade has a verify method that takes an explicit strategy. That would fit best on #1025's typedStrategy.Unchanged:

internalto:source:ui.AuthState/AuthenticationViewStatetransitions. That has been true since fix(api): stop the two auth API layers drifting on enterprise sign-up, sendCode and error events #1026, which made the old layer report too, and this PR keeps it.
