What

  • Progress bar: "Loading the book for editing… n of m" now has a bar that fills as pages arrive (role="progressbar" with the page count as its value). When the book is whole it fills and fades out instead of vanishing.
  • No jump when editing begins: while the book loads, the editor's layout is already in place — placeholders where the tool rail and the sidebar will be, and the sidebar's 312px kept (data-sidebar set while preparing) — so the pages don't shrink and re-zoom the moment author mode starts. The real rail and sidebar fade in over the placeholders.
  • prefers-reduced-motion: no animation, still no jump.

Why

Before, the sidebar appeared only once loading finished, narrowing the viewer by 312px at once: every page re-fit smaller in one jump, and the rail and sidebar popped in.

Checks

packages/reader: typecheck, lint (0 errors), 139 tests pass.

…ooth start of author mode

- The "Loading the book for editing… n of m" notice gets a bar that fills as the pages arrive (role=progressbar);
  when the book is whole the bar fills and fades out instead of vanishing.
- While the book loads, the editor's layout is already in place: quiet placeholders where the tool rail and the
  sidebar will be, and the sidebar's room kept, so the pages do not shrink and jump when editing begins. The real
  rail and sidebar fade in over the placeholders. Reduced motion: no animation, still no jump.
