feat(mcp): cap inspect-signals output and add node and history filters - #256
Conversation
inspect-signals returned the whole signal graph as JSON with no limit. A page can report 400 nodes with 50 history entries each, which comes to megabytes and floods an agent's context. Every other live tool caps its answer. The answer is now cut at 20,000 characters: it keeps fewer history entries per node first, then the first nodes that fit, and ends with a note on how many entries and nodes it left out. The kept JSON still parses. Two optional arguments narrow the graph: `node` (an id or label) returns that node with its direct producers and consumers, and `history: false` drops the value history. Small graphs come back as before. navigate sliced its JSON at 15,000 characters with no word on it, so a long result looked complete but did not parse. It now ends with a note when it cuts.

- Line 34: Update the resource filtering in the graph view selection so each
retained resource’s nodeIds contains only IDs present in the kept IDs set, while
retaining resources that reference at least one kept node.
- Line 101: Update the no-match responses in the signal-tools flow so both the
direct no-node response and the fallback response stay within 20,000 characters.
In the direct branch, cap the complete composed response; in the fallback, cap
the heading first, pass only the remaining budget to signalGraphText, and cap
its returned text to that same remainder so explanatory suffixes cannot exceed
the limit.

Normalize non-JSON router results before formatting.
probe can return route data containing a BigInt. redactValue preserves non-object primitives, so JSON.stringify(result, null, 2) can throw and prevent navigate from returning a formatted response. Normalize BigInt values and define fallback handling for cyclic values before the RPC or formatter boundary.

Keep both no-match responses within the 20,000-character limit.
The tool schema has no string length limits. A long node, selector, node label, or environment name can therefore exceed the limit.
The direct no-node branch must cap its complete response. The fallback must cap the heading and the formatter result. Clamping only the formatter budget is insufficient because its explanatory suffix can exceed a very small budget.

A very long node or selector argument made the no-match answers longer than the 20,000 character cap, and a node filter kept resource references to nodes it had left out. Clip both no-match answers to the cap and drop the stale ids from kept resources.
What and why
Before this change,
inspect-signalsreturned the whole signal graph as JSON with no limit. A page can report up to 400 nodes with 50 history entries each, which comes to megabytes in one answer. Every other live agent tool caps its output. Separately, navigatesliced its JSON result at 15,000 characters inside a code fence with no note, so a long result looked complete but did not parse. After:
inspect-signalsis cut at 20,000 characters. It first keeps fewer history entries per node, then the first nodes that fit. The kept JSON still parses, and a note says how many history entries and nodes were left out.node(a node id or label) returns that node with its direct producers and consumers, plus their resources and history.history: falsedrops the value history.navigateends a cut result with a note giving the full length and saying the JSON is incomplete. This keeps an agent's context from filling with one tool answer, and stops it from treating cut JSON as a full result.
