Summary

Mukoko Lingo

Mukoko Lingo is a partner app developed by Nyuchi Learning, part of Mukoko, Africa's super app. It is now a first-class product on the site, next to the Toddle Enhancement Extension:

  • New page /mukoko-lingo, built like the extension page. It covers what the app does today, who it is for, what schools get, a facts block for IT and school leaders, and how to start. It uses the app's own icon (assets/images/icon.png, MIT). The PNG wordmarks in the Lingo repo still read "Nyuchi Lingo", so they are not used.
  • Home page: a second product card in the same style as the extension's card. The old Lingo "surface" card is gone. It claimed French, Portuguese and "free for personal use", and the Lingo repo supports none of those.
  • Header: "Toddle extension" and "Mukoko Lingo" are now the first two links. "Tools" was renamed and the external "Languages" link was removed.
  • Footer: the "Tools" column is now "Products" and includes Mukoko Lingo.
  • SEO: a SoftwareApplication node in the JSON-LD, title, description, Open Graph tags, a sitemap entry (automatic, and checked by the test) and an entry under Products in llms.txt.
  • Every claim comes from mukoko-dev/mukoko-lingo: README.md, app.json, BRANDING.md and the app's own copy. Links point to the live app at lingo.mukoko.com (from the README; it returns 200). The old link, mukoko.com/lingo, redirects to www.mukoko.com/lingo, which returned 403 when I checked.

Releases (#85)

  • The anchors for 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 were already on staging. The tagged test builds since then (0.10.1–0.10.5, 0.11.1, 0.11.2) now open the 0.11.0 notes, and the existing every-tag-has-an-anchor test covers them.
  • 0.11.0 is listed first and marked as on the Chrome Web Store. Its content comes from the extension's CHANGELOG on main (the licence-key security fix). 0.10.0 stays marked as on the store. 0.12.0 is not listed anywhere, and a test asserts that.
  • extensionVersions.current is now 0.11.0. A new changedIn: "0.9.0" keeps the "versions before 0.9.0 asked licences.nyuchi.dev / used gbx-hide-flags" wording true. The product page, the Security page (which gains a paragraph on the 0.11.0 fix), the Releases description and llms.txt now say 0.11.0.
  • No date on 0.11.0: the CHANGELOG does not give the day it reached the store.

Also

  • webStore's cast now uses a named Url type, so Prettier 3.3.3 (this repo) and 3.9.4 (the org gate) format site.ts the same way. Base staging already failed 3.9.4 on that line.

Test plan

  • npm test: build, 126 vp tests and the CSP check all pass. New tests cover Lingo in the header, footer and home page, the JSON-LD, Open Graph, languages, llms.txt and the sitemap, plus 0.11.0 being on the store and 0.12.0 being absent.
  • astro check: 0 errors. vp lint: no new warnings. vp fmt --check: clean.
  • Prettier 3.3.3 and 3.9.4: clean. markdownlint-cli2 0.23.2: 0 issues.
  • Playwright screenshots of /mukoko-lingo (desktop, mobile at 390px, dark), the home page and Releases: no horizontal overflow and no page errors.

Open questions for the owner

  • App store links: the Lingo repo has iOS and Android builds configured, but its EAS build jobs are commented out and there is no store listing. The page only claims the web app.
  • Pricing: the app says "Start for free". Is there a price for schools or businesses? (The JSON-LD has no offers for this reason.)
  • The contact for Lingo school enquiries: the page uses support@nyuchi.com.
  • Should the canonical public URL be lingo.mukoko.com or mukoko.com/lingo?
  • The date 0.11.0 went live on the Chrome Web Store.

Closes #85

Mukoko Lingo, a partner app developed by Nyuchi Learning as part of
Mukoko, gets its own page at /mukoko-lingo, a product card on the home
page beside the Toddle Enhancement Extension, a header link, and a place
in the footer's Products column. JSON-LD, Open Graph, sitemap and
llms.txt match. Every claim is from Lingo's public repository; the old
home-page copy (French, Portuguese, "free for personal use") is gone.

Releases: 0.11.0 is on the Chrome Web Store and current; anchors for the
0.10.x and 0.11.x test builds; 0.12.0 is not listed. extensionVersions
gains changedIn (0.9.0) so "versions before" wording stays true.
