'@tanstack/ai-harness': patch
---

Store a rejected input and its `harness.input.rejected` record in one log append. The rejected receipt resolves after that append is stored, and a crash no longer runs the input as pending work.

Await the rejection write and update all reject() callers.

reject() currently suppresses append failures and publishes the receipt before harness.input.rejected is durable. The request methods already return this.reject(...), so they will propagate an async rejection. Other callers must await it. In particular, operation.resolveReceipt(...) accepts a Receipt, not a promise, and callers that ignore reject() still would not surface write failures.

Await this promise in the non-returning callers, and await it before passing the receipt to operation.resolveReceipt(...). Let append failures reject or fail the enclosing operation.

Review comment at @packages/ai-harness/src/session/inputs.ts around lines 1193 -
1199:
Make `reject()` async and await `writer.append` before recording or returning
the rejection receipt; do not suppress append failures. Update every `reject()`
caller to await the result, including callers passing it to
`operation.resolveReceipt(...)`, so they pass a `Receipt` rather than a promise
and propagate write failures.
