Summary

Makes cmdk-engine installable as an Agent Skill, so it can be listed on skills.sh.

  • skills/cmdk-engine/SKILL.md: teaches a coding agent to add a Cmd+K palette to a React app. Install with the project's package manager, minimal setup, registering commands and groups, the shortcut, search, synonyms and frecency ranking, routers and Next.js, SSR, styling and common pitfalls.
  • skills/cmdk-engine/references/api.md: entry points, CommandItem fields, provider config, CommandPalette props and hooks, for anything the skill body does not show.
  • README: a short "Use with AI coding agents (Agent Skill)" section.

No package code changes. skills/ is outside files, so the npm tarball is unchanged. The skill uses only package-manager installs (no remote scripts). The repo has no .claude/skills dev skills to hide.

Install

npx skills add Priyans-hu/cmdk-engine

Testing

  • skills-ref validate skills/cmdk-engine: valid.
  • npx skills add <this branch> -l: finds exactly one skill, cmdk-engine.
  • Static check: the skill's code fences and every API name in SKILL.md and references/api.md pass tsc --noEmit (strict) against the published cmdk-engine@0.6.0 and cmdk@1.1.1 in a React 19 + TypeScript fixture. A negative control (a made-up hook, an open prop) fails as expected.
  • Headless agent scenario: a minimal React 19 + TypeScript app (no router) with the skill in .claude/skills/, prompt "Add a Cmd+K command palette to this app", project settings only, limited tools, $1 cap. The skill loaded as the first tool call. The agent installed cmdk-engine and cmdk with npm (the lockfile's manager), added src/command-menu.tsx (provider, <CommandPalette dialog />, useCommandPaletteShortcut()), registered four commands with useCommandRegister under configured groups, wrapped the app and added theme-aware styles. Cost $0.68, 23 turns.
    • tsc --noEmit passes on the result.
    • A jsdom run of the bundled app passes 10/10 checks: Cmd+K and Ctrl+K toggle the dialog, groups in order, clicking an item runs it and closes, a keyword search, Enter runs the highlighted command, no console errors.
  • CI: all checks pass.

Entry points, CommandItem fields, provider config options, CommandPalette
props, hooks and route discovery, checked against the 0.6 exports.
