Summary

Product stretch on testing: Home dashboard, sharing/export, Notes AI + handouts, Library UX, branding, and Record/Import polish.

Home & navigation

  1. Home dashboard — Stats, shortcuts (Record / Library / Search / Shared), and recent lectures as the post-login landing screen.
  2. Bottom navigation — Home / Library / Search with compact styling and correct system inset handling.
  3. Open shared notes from Home — Paste a Firebase share code on Home; Settings no longer owns that entry point.

Share & export

  1. Multi-format export — Share notes as Markdown, PDF, Word (.doc), or plain text, including full transcript and LectureLens branding footer.
  2. Firebase share codes — Publish notes to Firestore and import them as lectures with a Shared status chip.
  3. Lecture share affordance — Dedicated toolbar share icon (not only the overflow menu).

Notes, AI & handouts

  1. Ask AI on Notes — Grounded Q&A over the lecture notes/transcript via Gemini.
  2. Markdown notes rendering — Bold, headings, and bullets for notes and AI answers.
  3. AI title + category — Summarize flow can set lecture title and assign/create a course category.
  4. Handout photo OCR — Add a handout image from the lecture menu; OCR text feeds Notes/Ask AI (Room DB v3).

Library UX

  1. Accordion categories — Expanding one course collapses the others.
  2. Single expand/collapse toggle — If any section is open → Collapse all; if none are open → Expand all.
  3. Status filters — Chip filters for All / Ready / Failed / Processing / Shared / Recorded; empty categories hide while filtering.

Record / Import & pipeline

  1. Record/Import layout fix — Pause/Stop no longer overlap Language/Category; pickers hide while capturing.
  2. STT / Gemini pipeline hardening — Longer audio path (GCS/async where needed), clearer failure surface, Gemini call serialization.

Branding & polish

  1. App logo (light/dark) — Logo on login, toolbars, and launcher icons.
  2. Empty states & chrome — Consistent empty illustrations and cleaner Library/Search/Notes empty messaging.

Test plan

  • Login → lands on Home; bottom nav reaches Library and Search
  • Record a short lecture; Language/Category do not overlap Pause/Stop
  • Library: filter Ready/Failed/Processing/Shared; toggle Expand all ↔ Collapse all
  • Open a Ready lecture → Ask AI a notes question; add a handout photo and confirm OCR appears
  • Share as MD/PDF/DOC; publish Firebase code; import that code from Home → Shared chip
  • Confirm logo on login + toolbars; light and dark themes

Notes

  • Includes app/google-services.json for Firebase. Register Android app com.lecturelens in Firebase Console if share codes fail.
  • API keys still come from local.properties on this branch; do not merge secrets to main.

Use BuildConfig keys first so login's single field no longer breaks the
full record → transcript → notes pipeline. Allow empty login key when
both local keys are present; default consent on for easier testing.

…and shared handouts.

Firebase Auth, Ask AI chat history, multi-source search, student profile, handout files with Storage, and share codes that include attachments.
