1. Introduction

Teddy is an opinionated open-source content management system (CMS) and static site generator (SSG) focused on simplicity and ease of use.

Features

  • Markdown-first: Collaboratively manage content with version control.
  • Free JAMstack Hosting: Automated deployment to platforms like Cloudflare.
  • Open and Extensible: Free and open-source, featuring custom themes and multilingual support.
  • Zero Databases: Lightweight, fast, and minimal code footprint.
  • No-code Content Editing: Effortless content management and one-click deployment via Teddy Studio.

Why not Hugo or Astro?

Both Hugo and Astro are incredible tools for building static websites. Hugo is the world's fastest static site generator, and Astro provides a modern framework for embedding interactive components. If you are a developer seeking power and flexibility, you cannot go wrong with either. Teddy is not trying to compete with these tools. Instead of focusing on developers, Teddy is designed to be the easiest way for a non-technical person to build and deploy a static site. It achieves this through opinionated simplicity, Markdown-first content management, minimal moving parts, low operational complexity, built-in search, and a path to no-code content editing and one-click build and deployment via Teddy Studio.
