## Plugins

**Plugins** are functions that configure a processor to transform, inspect, or
modify syntax trees.

**unist plugins** are cross-compatible, which can be used across **remark**,
**rehype**, and **recma** pipelines because they operate on the underlying
universal syntax tree specifications.
