Summary

  • register Dex workflow and activity metric providers against the customized Temporal SDK
  • emit flow, step, subflow, RPC, and system metrics under stable dex_* Prometheus families
  • remove the legacy Tally temporal_samples prefix and add end-to-end Prometheus coverage
  • consume github.com/superdurable/temporal-sdk-go v1.47.1-superdurable.1 and move Go modules/CI to Go 1.26
  • document metric mappings, queries, and migration in English and Simplified Chinese

Rationale and user impact

Temporal's default worker metrics cannot describe Dex Flow and Step types. The forked SDK now accepts runtime providers at registration, propagates Flow type metadata to regular and local activities, and rewrites metric names without taking a Dex protobuf dependency. Existing dashboards and alerts must migrate from temporal_* or temporal_samples_temporal_* selectors to the documented dex_* families.

SDK implementation: superdurable/temporal-sdk-go#1

Validation

  • make -C server unitTests
  • make -C server temporalIntegTests
  • GOWORK=off go test ./integ -run '^TestTemporalMetrics$' -timeout 10m -cadence=false -search=false -dependencyWaitSeconds=1
  • GOWORK=off go test ./... in cli/
  • npm run check in docs/
  • make copyright-check
  • GOWORK=off go mod tidy in server/ and cli/
