Ritalin

Clinician notes: Like a short, ad hoc coding Ralph loop. Blunt, but effective.

Symptoms: Coding agent loses focus, forgets instructions, multiplies technical debt.

Solution: A PostToolUse hook tracks local file edits. Then a Stop hook reminds the agent to check a list of common mistakes, and continues reminding until the agent stops making changes.

Active ingredients: Bash, jq

Diazepam

Clinician notes: A sedative for the florid hand. May cause agent to second guess itself, which is not entirely a bad thing.

Symptoms: Agent writing exhibits involuntary tics, excessive em dashes, reflexive "not X but Y."

Solution: A PostToolUse hook tracks local prose edits. Then a Stop hook reminds the agent to read the work back for spasms and seizures, and continues reminding until the agent stops making changes.
