A fun, customizable card generator for LGBTQ+ people, allies, and anyone who wants to make their own.
The Gay Card started as a purely personal project.
I wanted to make myself a little Gay Card that I could carry around and show as a gag. I also wanted to make Straight Ally cards for my sisters and cousins, who love and support me as a gay person.
The project is not intended to be official, serious, or authoritative. It's just something I thought would be funny and fun to make—and eventually, I thought other people might enjoy making their own too.
The cards are intended as humor, self-expression, and a celebration of LGBTQ+ identity and allyship. They are not intended to demean, insult, discriminate against, or hurt anyone.
If you want a Gay Card, a Gold Star Gay card, a Platinum Star Gay card, a Straight Ally card, or something completely different, make one that's yours. 🌈
The card may include optional Star designations as part of the project's humor.
These are playful labels rather than official LGBTQ+ classifications.
A humorous slang term traditionally used for a gay person who has never had sexual contact with someone of the opposite sex.
A playful extension of the Gold Star joke.
For the purposes of this project, Platinum Star Gay refers to someone who was born via Caesarean section and therefore, according to the joke, never passed through the "opposite-sex exit." 😂
The definitions are intentionally silly and are not intended to determine anyone's LGBTQ+ identity, sexual orientation, or worth.
You can use whichever designation you find funny—or none at all.

Privacy is an important part of the project.
The planned card generator is intended to generate cards entirely within the user's browser.
Names, photographs, and other information entered into the generator should remain on the user's device and should not need to be uploaded to a server.
No account should be required to create a card.
The project is intended to be customizable.
If you want to make your own version, you can modify the design, change the colors, choose a different flag, add your own details, or create an entirely different card.
You don't have to make your card exactly like mine.
