Supersedes the auto-cascade PRs #33 and #34, which were opened against an older base and went CONFLICTING/BEHIND once handshake v0.2.7, beacon v0.2.9 and runtime v0.3.2 were released underneath them. handshake v0.2.7 carries the port-444 fix: Close appeared nowhere in handshake.go, so every accepted stream leaked a goroutine plus a 64 KiB buffer and the underlying daemon Connection — uncapped, from any peer.
