PER-11036: fix(deps): clear pdfjs-dist and fast-xml-parser audit advisories - #2463

…sories A fresh install of @percy/cli audits with four root advisories (#2461). This clears the two Percy can fix on its own: - @percy/cli-pdf: pdfjs-dist ^2.16.105 -> ^4.10.38 (GHSA-wgrm-67xf-hhpq, arbitrary JS on a malicious PDF; patched in 4.2.67). pdf.js 4 ships only ES modules, so the rasterizer no longer reads legacy/build/pdf.js and injects it as a classic script body. The page now imports legacy/build/pdf.mjs from the loopback asset server (new loadLibrary browser script) and pdf.js spawns pdf.worker.mjs as a module worker from the same directory. The asset descriptor exposes libFile/workerFile instead of libPath. - @percy/core: fast-xml-parser ^4.4.1 -> ^5.11.2 (GHSA-gh4j-gqv2-49f6, XMLBuilder CDATA/comment injection; patched in 5.7.0). Only XMLParser is used, with processEntities: false, so the advisory was not reachable, but 4.x can never clear it. Left as-is because no fix exists upstream yet: basic-ftp (GHSA-c475-qrg2-pj4r, patched 6.2.1, but every get-uri release still pins ^5.x) and braces (GHSA-vfj7-8cjw-p6xm, no patched version published). Toolchain note: pdfjs-dist 4.10.38 declares engines.node >= 20 and fast-xml-parser 5.8+ pulls xml-naming (>= 16); pdf.js never runs in Node here, but yarn enforces engines, so this needs the Node 20 CI upgrade (#2386) to install on CI. Verified locally under Node 14 with --ignore-engines: @percy/cli-pdf 45/45 at 100% coverage, core pdf-snapshot 40/40 against a real Chromium, core maestro-hierarchy 162/162. percy/puppeteer
- Uses an independent test-only
pdfjs-dist^1.8.595dependency inpackage.json:46;test/test.js:2196loads it viarequire('pdfjs-dist'). This is separate from@percy/cli-pdfand is not affected by the ESM asset changes. [::percy/puppeteer::]
percy/percy-storybook
- Its lockfile resolves
pdfjs-dist4.4.168andfast-xml-parser4.5.7(yarn.lock:1180, 9255, 2373, 7021), but broad searches found no direct use of@percy/cli-pdf,rasterizePdf, or the changed browser APIs. [::percy/percy-storybook::]
percy/example-percy-maestro-app
- Its lockfile uses
@percy/core1.32.3withfast-xml-parser4.5.7(package-lock.json:320-329, 962). It does not yet consume the upgraded core dependency from this PR. [::percy/example-percy-maestro-app::]

… pdf.js 4 pdf.js 4 anti-aliases image edges and glyphs slightly differently from 2.x, so the byte-for-byte goldens no longer match. Regenerated on the pinned Chromium 143.0.7499.0 for each platform; text-only pages differ by a few hundred pixels at channel delta <= 6, the resume page only on its photo and logo bitmaps. Layout and glyphs are unchanged. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The linux-x64 goldens it produced are committed in the previous commit; the Regression job goes back to asserting on them. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Two of them are ours to fix and this PR clears both; the other two have no upstream patch yet (details at the bottom).@percy/cli-pdf^4.10.38@percy/coreXMLBuilder. Not reachable (core only usesXMLParserwithprocessEntities: false), but no 4.x release will ever clear it.^5.11.2Changes
pdfjs-dist 2 → 4 (ESM migration). pdf.js 4 ships ES modules only, so the old path of reading
pdf.jsoff disk and injecting it into the page as a function body cannot work any more.cli-pdf/src/assets.jsnow exposeslibFile: 'pdf.mjs'/workerFile: 'pdf.worker.mjs'(served fromlegacy/build/) instead oflibPath.loadLibrarybrowser script incli-pdf/src/browser-scripts.jsdoeswindow.pdfjsLib = await import(${origin}/pdfjs/${libFile})from the loopback asset server;openDocumentnow readswindow.pdfjsLiband pointsworkerSrcat the.mjsworker, which pdf.js 4 spawns as a module worker.core/src/pdf-rasterize.jsdrops thefsread +new Functioninjection and runsloadLibrarythenopenDocumentviapage.eval.cli-pdf/test/fixtures/pdfjs/pdf.mjs, loaded through afile:origin). The now-dead "falls back towindow.pdfjsLib" spec is removed.fast-xml-parser 4 → 5. Only
XMLParseris used (core/src/maestro-hierarchy.js); API unchanged for our call. Existing maestro hierarchy + parity specs cover it..yarnrcwith--ignore-engines true(bridge, remove with the Node 20 upgrade). pdfjs-dist 4.10 declaresengines.node >= 20and fast-xml-parser 5.8+ pullsxml-naming(>= 16). Yarn classic hard-failsyarn installon a transitive engines mismatch, and every CI job still runs on Node 14, so without this the PR cannot even install. Neither package executes under Node here (pdf.js is shipped to Chromium), so the engine field is a toolchain gate only. Verified both ways under Node 14.18.3: a forced install without the file fails withpdfjs-dist@4.10.38: The engine "node" is incompatible with this module. Expected version ">=20", and succeeds with it. Once #2386 (Node 20 upgrade) lands this file should be deleted.Regenerated PDF rasterization goldens (
test/regression/assets/pdfs/expected/). The Regression job compares rendered pages byte-for-byte, and pdf.js 4 rasterizes image edges and glyph hinting slightly differently from 2.x, so the first CI run failed Track P on two pages. Both platform sets were regenerated on the pinned Chromium 143.0.7499.0: linux-x64 on the CI runner itself (via a temporaryUPDATE_PDF_GOLDENS=1+ artifact-upload step, reverted in the last commit), darwin-arm64 locally with the real pinnedMac_Arm/1536376build rather than the Chrome shim. Old vs new, measured with the test's own comparator:multipage-sample-pdfp1-3single-page-samplep1jack-sparrow-resumep1jack-sparrow-resumep1Layout, glyphs and page sizes are unchanged on every page; I eyeballed the resume page and the ligature region side by side.

@napi-rs/canvas(~26 MB per platform), that Percy never uses. Downstream installs pull it unless they pass--omit=optional. Worth knowing; I did not try to suppress it since npm has no clean way to drop a transitive optional dep.core/package.jsonandyarn.lock; whichever merges second needs a trivial lockfile rebase. What stays after this PR
