Upgrade the TypeSpec compiler and core libraries to 1.16.0 to fix spec-derived output path traversal (GHSA-2q42-4q24-7rgv), covering eight high-severity Dependabot records. Align companion REST, stream, versioning, and Azure generator-core packages, and patch the newly introduced undici dependency.

Rebase existing compiler, HTTP, and OpenAPI customizations onto the released packages. Preserve visibility-projected model names, discriminated-union object defaults, query serialization, and schema inlining. Keep the existing Python generator patch and its version unchanged; remove patch content already included upstream.

Rebased onto main after #5336 merged; this diff contains the compiler upgrade, compatibility tests, and the asset-emitter compatibility pin.

Validation:

  • Full OpenAPI, Python SDK, v3 SDK, and Go API regeneration produces no tracked generated-output changes.
  • make test-api-spec, Go emitter checks, generated TypeScript SDK type checks, and scoped formatting checks.
  • Regression tests cover Unix/Windows path traversal, service-name traversal, benign version filenames, visibility clone names, and discriminated-union defaults.
  • Live audit of the combined TypeSpec workspace reports no vulnerabilities.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Chores
    • Updated the tools used to create and validate API specifications across packages, along with supporting package versions and dependency overrides.
  • Tests
    • Added compatibility checks for generated model names and JSON serialization.
    • Added checks for OpenAPI filenames derived from service names and versions, including unusual values, and verified that filenames remain within the output map.

RetriggerView in GreptileConfidence Score: 5/5

The PR appears safe to merge; no new actionable issues were found.

Summary

Upgrades TypeSpec core packages to 1.16.0 and rebases the local compiler, HTTP, and OpenAPI patches.

  • TypeSpec API generation keeps spec-named output paths inside the output area.

📝 Walkthrough

The TypeSpec workspace updates package versions, patch mappings, and dependency overrides. It also reformats two TypeSpec declarations without changing their types and adds tests for compiler compatibility and OpenAPI output paths.

Cover the filesystem output boundary.

This test checks only the in-memory outputs map. It does not compile into a temporary directory or inspect the files that the configured output host creates. Add a filesystem-backed case that asserts hostile version and service-name values cannot create files outside the configured output directory. This is a regression-coverage gap, not evidence of a current production escape.
