Currently the homepage shows a static landing page. Per maintainer feedback in #78, the homepage should redirect to the latest stable documentation.
Why are you interested in working on this PR?
I'm participating in the NumFOCUS Sustaining Open Source Series program and this is a companion change to #153 which adds the version switcher.
