When playing a dual-audio video that contains both Hindi and English tracks, the player selects the Hindi audio track by default even though the preferred audio language is set to English in the app settings.
This only happens with hindi + English dual audio file
Steps to reproduce
- Go to Settings → Audio (or the relevant audio preferences section).
- Set Preferred audio language(s) to
en / eng / English (or whatever the exact setting label and format is).
- Open a dual-audio file that has both Hindi and English audio tracks (e.g. Hindi as the first/default track and English as the second).
- Observe which audio track is selected on playback start.
Additional information
- This happens even though the preferred language is correctly set to English.
- Manually switching to the English track works, but the preference is not respected on initial load / new files.
- Related mpv option is typically
--alang (preferred audio languages). It would be helpful to confirm whether the app is correctly passing the user’s preferred language(s) to libmpv (e.g. via alang).
Possible notes for developers
- Language codes may be stored as
hi/hin vs en/eng — matching logic should handle both 2- and 3-letter codes and prioritization order.
- Track order / “default” flag in the file may be overriding the preferred language preference.
- There may also be interaction with any “remember last selected audio track per video” feature.
Expected behavior
The player should automatically select the English audio track (matching the preferred language setting).
Actual behavior
The player starts with the Hindi audio track.
