If an attempt is renamed after the list but before the reread, the reread still reports its unfinished status. This path reads only
status, then deletes the ID, so it can delete the attempt now associated with the new alias. Check the reread account’s alias against the requested alias before deleting.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

…hed attempt Connecting an account under an alias only worked if the sign-in was finished on the first link. Composio creates the account record, alias included, when the auth link is minted, and stops reserving the alias when the link expires about ten minutes later. The authorize guard compared the alias against every record whatever its status, so a second click on Connect returned "alias already in use", and after the link expired that alias was refused for good. - authorize (server and managed broker): only a connected account owns its alias. An unfinished attempt with the same alias is removed and linked again; an expired or failed one no longer blocks. - connector card status: when several accounts carry the card's alias, follow the active one, then the pending one, instead of the first match. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…e overlapping links Two races in the alias retry: - The account list is a moment old by the time an unfinished attempt is removed. A sign-in finished in between would have had its connected account deleted and revoked. The attempt is now read again by id and only removed if it is still unfinished; a connected one keeps its alias (409), a missing or lapsed one is skipped. - Two overlapping requests for the same toolkit and alias could each replace the other's new attempt, leaving one caller with a dead link. The server now gives overlapping requests the same link. The broker is reached through that server, one per installation, so it inherits this. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…d Session Overlapping authorize requests were keyed by backend, toolkit and alias. A settings change can swap the Session while one is in flight, and a link minted for the old Session is not the new one's to hand out. The key now carries the Composio user and Session as well. Also say in the code that re-reading an attempt before removing it narrows the gap to one request and does not close it, and why the attempt is removed rather than stripped of its alias. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The card test removed the expired attempt before the retry turned active, so it never checked that the card prefers a connected account over a lapsed one carrying the same alias. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…of deleting the attempt Replacing an unfinished attempt meant reading its status and then deleting it, with credential revocation, in two requests. A sign-in completing in between could lose the new connection and revoke its grant. Composio keeps one link usable for the whole attempt, before and after the user reaches the provider's sign-in, and the link response names the attempt. The server now remembers the link it issued for each aliased connection, and a retry gets that link back while the attempt is still unfinished under the same alias. Nothing upstream changes on that path. The managed broker returns the attempt's id so this works for managed installs too. Remembered links expire after 15 minutes, past the point where Composio lets an attempt lapse. The server only falls back to replacing an attempt when it doesn't know the attempt's link (after a restart, for example), and that removal no longer revokes anything: an unfinished attempt holds no credentials, so revocation only added risk. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… in progress A retry whose link the app still holds already gets that link back. The fallback for an attempt whose link it doesn't know (minted before a restart, for example) still read the attempt's status and then deleted it. That left two races, because Composio's delete takes no condition: a sign-in completing between the read and the delete lost its account record, and an attempt renamed after the list was read could be deleted under its new alias. Both paths, server and managed broker, now leave such an attempt alone and answer 409 with "Sign-in for "<alias>" on <toolkit> is still in progress". Composio frees the alias when the attempt lapses (about ten minutes), and the next retry gets a fresh link. A retry no longer deletes anything. The test mock now scopes the account list by Composio user and gives the second user's Session its own id, so overlapping requests from different users are modelled faithfully. After rebasing onto main, the broker captures the requested alias before the retry alias may replace it, and the shared-alias regression test expects a lapsed attempt's alias to be reusable, matching this change. Rebased onto Post-rebase checks: |
… card status The connector card and Connected apps panel already reopen the link they were given for its ten-minute life (milind-soni#2197), so the server-side link cache, overlapping-request sharing, attempt re-read and broker account id were duplicating that. What remains: an EXPIRED attempt no longer blocks its alias, and a card follows the retry rather than the expired record. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
|
Superseded by #2882: main now deletes an expired or unfinished account that holds the requested alias before making the new link (one shared planner for the server and the broker), so a retry after expiry already works and the card never sees two accounts under one alias. |
Fixes #2196.
What changed
authorizeServiceinserver/composio.ts,authorizeincloudflare/composio-broker): anEXPIREDaccount no longer blocks its alias. Every other status still gets the 409Account alias "work" is already in use.server/index.ts): when several accounts carry the card's alias, the card follows the one that isn't expired. It used to take the first match, which could be the expired attempt, so a retry that connected never completed the card. Why
Connecting under an alias only works if the sign-in is finished on the first link. On
main:work, and the card appears.Account alias "work" is already in use for googledrive, every time. The guard matched the alias against every account record for the toolkit, whatever its status. Composio creates that record when the link is minted, not when the sign-in completes. Observed against a scratch Composio project on 2 Oct 2026:
{toolkit: "googledrive", alias: "work"}INITIALIZINGwith aliasworkAlias "work" is already in use by another connection for this entityEXPIREDand keeps its aliasSo after expiry, our guard refused an alias Composio accepts.
A retry before expiry needs no server change. Since #2197, the card and the Connected apps panel reopen the link they were given for its ten-minute life rather than requesting a new one. An earlier revision of this PR also cached links on the server, shared overlapping requests and returned the attempt id from the broker. That duplicated #2197, so it has been removed.
