👍 A 5-years-later bump of sorts. It would indeed be nice to be able to view Markdown documents inside xreader without the need to use or install another program.
Hi,
adding my +1 here. This feature request has become even more relevant now that AI coding tools like Claude Code and ChatGPT produce Markdown files everywhere .
I got project docs, README files, changelogs, notes, you name it. So I end up with tons of .md files that I just want to quickly read without firing up an editor or converting them first. Of course one can read markdown, it's a glorified text file, but a proper display with aligned tables, bigger headlines, spacing etc would be really nice. And my eyes are not getting younger, proper rendering becomes more important year by year in ways I would have never anticipated 10 years ago.
Xreader already renders html for epub support, so adding Markdown shouldn't be a huge lift technically. Would be a really welcome addition.
Thanks

Hello,
I wrote a markdown backend for Xreader.
Still very basic, I need to add zoom in and zoom out to it to make it useable for me and possibly printing too.
Night mode works in the main viewer, but the night mode does not work in the left side panel yet.
Also I encountered minor bugs in the epub backend.
And how do I contribute my markdown backend back ? Anybody wants to review it ? Or shall I create a PR ?

I would prefer to see this implemented in a different tool.
