Easy Lights — Elgato Stream Deck plugin for Elgato lights

Easy Lights is a free, open-source Elgato Stream Deck plugin that gives you direct, one-press control over your Elgato Key Light, Key Light Air, and Light Strip — toggle power, dial in brightness, and adjust color temperature straight from your Stream Deck, without opening Elgato Control Center.

Why Easy Lights?

Elgato Control Center works great, but it means alt-tabbing away from your game, stream, or call every time you want to dim a light or warm up the color temperature. Easy Lights puts those same controls on your Stream Deck:

• Toggle Light — turn a light (or every light) on/off with one key press.
• Brightness — adjust brightness from a keypad or a Stream Deck+ dial/encoder.
• Color Temperature — adjust warm/cool color temperature from a keypad or dial/encoder.
• Zero-config discovery — reads the accessories Elgato Control Center already knows about (name, IP) for instant setup, and falls back to live mDNS/Bonjour discovery (_elg._tcp) if Control Center isn't installed or a light isn't listed yet.
• Target one light or all of them — leave an action set to "All lights" to control every Elgato light on the network at once, or pin it to a specific accessory.
• Talks directly to the light's local HTTP API (port 9123) — no cloud, no accounts, no extra background services.

Requirements

• Stream Deck software 7.1+ (Windows 10+ or macOS 12+)
• One or more Elgato Key Light, Key Light Air, or Light Strip devices on the same network
• Elgato Control Center (optional, but recommended for instant accessory discovery)

Installation

Option 1 — Download the release (recommended)

1. Go to the Releases page and download the latest com.jeroen-oudshoorn.easy-lights.streamDeckPlugin file.
2. Double-click the downloaded .streamDeckPlugin file.
3. Stream Deck will prompt you to install the plugin — click Install.
4. Drag any of the three Easy Lights actions (Toggle Light, Brightness, Color Temperature) onto a key or dial.

Option 2 — Manual install from source

If you'd rather build it yourself, or Stream Deck won't open the file directly:

1. Clone this repository and install dependencies:

   git clone https://github.com/jayofelony/streamdeck-easy-lights.git
   cd streamdeck-easy-lights
   npm install
   npm run build

2. Package it into a .streamDeckPlugin file (requires the Elgato CLI, installed as a dev dependency):

   npx streamdeck pack com.jeroen-oudshoorn.easy-lights.sdPlugin

3. Locate your Stream Deck plugins folder:
   • Windows: %APPDATA%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins
   • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/com.elgato.StreamDeck/Plugins
4. Copy (or symlink) the com.jeroen-oudshoorn.easy-lights.sdPlugin folder into that Plugins directory.
5. Restart the Stream Deck app. The Easy Lights category will appear in the action list.

Alternatively, during development you can link the plugin straight from the source folder instead of copying it:

npx streamdeck link com.jeroen-oudshoorn.easy-lights.sdPlugin

Usage

1. Drag the Toggle Light, Brightness, or Color Temperature action onto a key or Stream Deck+ dial.
2. Open the action's property inspector and pick an Accessory from the dropdown (auto-populated from Elgato Control Center / mDNS), or leave it on All lights.
3. Press the key (or turn the dial) to control your Elgato light instantly.

The plugin is written in TypeScript against the @elgato/streamdeck SDK and bundled with Rollup. Source lives in src/; the installable plugin structure (manifest, UI, images) lives in com.jeroen-oudshoorn.easy-lights.sdPlugin/.
