Merge the trending (X) tab into the homepage trending feed - #885

Conversation
X like velocity now lifts papers in the main trending score (#867, #871, PWC_TRENDING_X_WEIGHT=1 since 2026-11-05), so the separate tab is gone: /x-trending redirects to /, and GET /papers/x-trending, XTrendingService.feed() and papersApi.xTrending are removed. The admin PUT /papers/x-trending/{day} and the paper_x_trending table stay for the sheet routine and curation priority. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

This is the last step of the X like velocity rollout (#867, #871). On 2026-11-05 the user approved the lift-only X weight, and
PWC_TRENDING_X_WEIGHT=1was set in/etc/paperswithcode/trending-cron.env. The homepage trending feed now ranks papers that are viral on X, so the separate tab is removed.Changes
/x-trendingnow redirects to/. RemovedpapersApi.xTrendingand its query key.GET /papers/x-trendingandXTrendingService.feed(), along with the feed's tests. The user chose to drop this public endpoint because it had only existed for a few days.PUT /papers/x-trending/{shared_on}and thepaper_x_trendingtable, which the "AI Papers on X" sheet routine and curation priority still use./x-trendingstays a known SPA route, so the redirect is served.Validation

Note
Low Risk
Mostly UI and API cleanup after ranking moved; admin X-trending ingestion is unchanged. Only risk is any short-lived client still calling the removed GET endpoint.
Overview
Removes the separate trending (X) homepage tab now that X engagement is folded into the main trending ranking (per the X like-velocity rollout).
Frontend: Drops the tab and
papersApi.xTrending; the homepage always loadspapersApi.listwithorder_by: trending./x-trendingredirects to/so old links still work.Backend: Deletes public
GET /papers/x-trendingandXTrendingService.feed(), plus feed-only tests. AdminPUT /papers/x-trending/{shared_on}, thepaper_x_trendingtable, and day-replacement logic stay for the "AI Papers on X" sheet import and curation.Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 1c3cfe4.
