Can't fight enemies or cows after loading

I can kill cows before saving. But after saving & loading I can't damage cows or any enemies. I also can't be hurt by them.
Is anyone else seeing this issue?
There's been no development on this mod for 6 months, but it seems to me like it's very nearly done...

Solved with a workaround - Don't save in creative mode the 1st time.

After a bit more testing it was only a problem when starting a game in creative mode, then saving & loading it in creative mode.
It works if I start the game in survival mode and Save. Then when I load I can select creative mode and it works as expected. Cows, enemies, & myself can take damage & die.
