Fatih Küçükkarakurt

Civil engineer (MSc, offshore geotechnics) who writes engineering software.

Geotechnical engineering runs on data — CPT and borehole logs, laboratory results, parametric analyses, correlations that get rebuilt in a fresh spreadsheet for every project. Most of that work can be automated, tested and made reproducible. Very few people can do both the engineering and the engineering-grade software. I'm building the tools that sit in that gap.

I also write low-level code, mostly for the pleasure of understanding things from the bottom up: a compiler, a 32-bit operating system, and an LLM inference engine in pure C — all from scratch.


Selected work

KATAI 2D . An open-formulation, verification-driven finite element platform for two-dimensional geotechnical analysis under plane-strain and axisymmetric conditions.

Nerve · C Run a real LLM, sentence embeddings and on-device learning in pure C. One header, zero dependencies. TinyLlama-1.1B on a 2017 laptop CPU, and the same code as a 65 KB WebAssembly module in the browser.

mathparser · C++ A mathematical expression evaluator and parser.


Currently

Finishing an MSc in geotechnical engineering with a focus on offshore geotechnics, while working as a control engineer at a building inspection firm in Türkiye — running site inspections, phase approvals, sampling and progress-payment processes. The paperwork side of engineering, and the reason I started automating it.

Building open-source tooling for geotechnical data alongside the thesis.
