Regarding data packing

Is the data packed as Big Endian, which is considered the default network byte order?

Also, do you handle bit fields?

Do you mind if I refer to this in my "ojproto", a compiler which automatically generates serializer, deserializer C Code?

I want to extend it to Common Lisp, where the input is a header file containing structure definition, and the output is a file which has the functions to serialize and deserialize the structure.

When I wrote it I needed only little endian integers, but it should be trivial to add support for big endian as well. To be honest, a lot of the code should be replaced with calls to nibbles (for integer serialization) and babel (for string serialization), would be a lot simpler that way.
