🏎️ HackArena 3.0 - Formula 1 AI Racing Bot

This repository contains the source code for an autonomous racing agent developed during the 36-hour HackArena 3.0 hackathon at SGGW. Our team achieved 5th place in the Grand Prix Final and 8th place in the overall ranking out of 33 competing teams.

🏆 Achievements

  • Grand Prix Finalist: 5th place in the decisive final races.
  • Top 10 Overall: Ranked 8th out of 33 teams in the general standings.
  • Endurance: Fully functional AI built from scratch in just 36 hours of intensive coding.

📝 Project Overview

The challenge was to design and implement an AI bot for a dynamic 3D racing game inspired by Formula 1. The game environment was revealed only at the start of the event, requiring rapid reverse-engineering of vehicle physics and immediate implementation of control algorithms.

Our solution is the result of iterative prototyping. The final version features advanced predictive logic and custom stability control systems.

🚀 Key Features & Driving Aids

Our bot utilizes several "Driver Aids" to maintain high speeds while ensuring stability:

  • Dynamic Differential Lock: Adjusts the diff_lock during braking to reduce understeer and improve turn-in agility.
  • Traction Control System (TCS): Monitors real-time wheel slip and cuts throttle instantly when rear-end stability is compromised, preventing spin-outs.
  • Steer-Brake Interlock: Automatically releases brakes during high-angle steering inputs to prevent wheel lock-up and maintain directional control.
  • Adaptive Throttle Mapping: An aggressive acceleration logic that forces maximum power delivery whenever optimal tire grip is detected.
  • Pit-Stop Strategy: Automated logic for handling mandatory pit requests and physical stop-start timing.
