Both DEBUG branches now return after NSAssert. If assertions are compiled out (NS_BLOCK_ASSERTIONS), the assert is a no-op and the method returns without registering anything. The caller then gets a silently missing service. Other assertions in this file are gated with #if DEBUG && ENABLE_ASSERT for exactly this configuration.
Add a ZDMLog before each return so the dropped registration is observable.
