Empathy still contains a historical Mantle source tree and three Mantle-owned staging files. This reconciles the useful missing behavior into the standalone owner so the companion Empathy cleanup can remove those copies.
Recovered capabilities:
mantle config/env/path/completion, installer assurance/locked defaults, conservative XDG/history preservation, and opt-in session assets.Existing storage/archive/HLS commands, profile graph, RubyGems behavior, managed-prefix lifecycle, and Identity artwork are retained. PROVENANCE.md records the source. Every one of the 337 historical source files has a source/destination blob receipt in the companion Empathy removal ledger.
Validation: strict static checks (9 groups), offline Fastfetch validation, 90-command catalog, and temporary-prefix install/reinstall/status/doctor/uninstall smoke pass. Focused runtime, Fish, Git, installer, and policy tests pass. The broad local run passed unit/integration/contract suites; two sysinfo network cases are blocked by the sandbox's netlink restriction. Native Linux/macOS CI passes, including the full bin suite on stock macOS Bash and the temporary-prefix lifecycle smoke on both platforms. Static validation and Identity verification also pass. The expanded macOS suite exposed and now covers Bash 3.2 empty-array handling, exit-status preservation, BSD chmod, and stock grep capability detection.
References: egohygiene/empathy#79, egohygiene/empathy#92. ADR backfill (#31), Flow shortcuts (#20), and release integration (#26) remain separate follow-up work.
Companion source cleanup: Empathy #103. Merge this owner PR first; the cleanup remains draft for Empathy's separate holistic validation requirement.
