🏙️ SimCity Mobile (Micropolis Android)

Android API 26+ License: GPLv3 Engine: MicropolisJS

The original SimCity (1989) by Will Wright — running natively on Android with full multi-touch controls.

This is an Android mobile port of micropolisJS, the faithful JavaScript reimplementation of the Micropolis open-source city simulation engine. Zone residential, commercial, and industrial areas, lay roads and power lines, manage budgets, respond to disasters, and watch your city grow — all from your phone.

📱 Mobile Port Details

Component Technology
Game Engine MicropolisJS (HTML5 Canvas + JavaScript)
Android Wrapper Capacitor 6 (Android WebView)
Touch Input Custom multi-touch controller (mobileTouch.js)
Target API Android 8.0+ (API 26)
Orientation Landscape (sensor-locked)
Display Immersive fullscreen with display cutout support

Key Adaptations

  • Responsive landscape HUD with compact left-side city info panel and 2-column right-side tool palette.
  • WebView lifecycle management — simulation pauses/resumes correctly when the app is backgrounded.
  • Bypassed desktop-only media queries that blocked the game on mobile screen dimensions.
