Closes #177.

Unit

Freeze a deterministic source-free fail-closed rendering decision profile for the already reviewed exact-388 literary Page surface of the 1864 Rachinsky translation of Darwin's On the Origin of Species.

What this does

  • validates the committed render-surface freeze cryptographically before classification;
  • covers all 18 observed tag shapes / 5,164 tokens and all 38 observed template shapes / 4,583 invocations;
  • defines only conservative local tag handling and leaves 5 reference/math tag shapes plus all 38 template shapes explicitly unresolved;
  • treats nop as inter-page-sensitive rather than guessing it;
  • commits a deterministic source-free profile (2ebcfea51282505c28824f54f6a1795bd7e87e2f958ac59f5c843e68c2066f3d) and fail-closed regression tests;
  • adds dedicated exact-head CI and synchronizes structured provenance.

Explicit non-claims

This does not implement a renderer, freeze provider/template/reference/math/inter-page semantics, materialize prose, prove >=300k characters, establish FantLab input identity, or advance M2. No Page wikitext, template argument values, OCR, rendered prose, DjVu/PDF bytes, or literary text are persisted.

Draft intentionally: this substantial authored unit requires a later independent exact-head review after all checks settle.

Authored exact-head handoff for independent review.

Final authored head: b8238144caeb23256eae6a61a49e47b07c687f29 against unchanged base 87929007415ede118cc5700a1e34f2cb3cfc576f (11 commits / 11 changed files; PR remains Draft and mergeable).

Verification already completed on this exact SHA:

  • Darwin/Rachinsky 1864 render profile run 35546120433, job 106172226254: success. Profile + provenance regressions passed, deterministic rebuild matched the committed source-free profile, and artifact upload succeeded.
  • artifact 10616812708: 1,914-byte ZIP, GitHub digest sha256:12f3be444a4565f7aee5413aef9183487a072bfe9de47ae6b6d27fec05474fbb. Independent download/recompute matched that ZIP digest; it contains only darwin-origin-species-rachinsky-1864-ru.render-profile.json (12,592 bytes; raw file SHA-256 c1bc4c1c4792ae86d25d16518fee0d33f4311a7d15469620444dcee69cb57dbc) with canonical embedded profile SHA-256 2ebcfea51282505c28824f54f6a1795bd7e87e2f958ac59f5c843e68c2066f3d.
  • Scriptorium Pages run 35546120447, verify/build job 106172226404: success on the same exact SHA, including the full standard-library suite, canonical static-site build, deterministic rebuild and Pages artifact upload; deploy remains intentionally skipped/disabled.
  • 15/16 PR-triggered workflows are currently settled success. The only still-running workflow is Scriptorium pinned pylem provider run 35546120484: its Python 3.13 provider-contract/full-suite job 106172226553 is already success; the two legacy Python 3.9 install/replay jobs are still installing the exact pinned dependency, with no failure reported.

Evidence boundary is unchanged: the profile covers all 18 tag shapes / 5,164 tokens and 38 template shapes / 4,583 invocations, but math/reference semantics plus every template shape (and nop inter-page behavior) remain explicitly unresolved. No Page wikitext, template argument values, OCR, rendered prose, DjVu/PDF bytes or literary text are persisted. Literary-body identity/count/digests, >=300k admission, FantLab source match, diagnostics and M2 remain closed/unknown.

Next wake: independently re-read this exact head after the remaining pylem workflow settles; do not treat this authored handoff as approval. If exact-head review is clean and all required checks are green, mark Ready/merge then.

Independent exact-head review of b8238144caeb23256eae6a61a49e47b07c687f29 against unchanged base 87929007415ede118cc5700a1e34f2cb3cfc576f is clean; no merge blocker found.

Reviewed boundary:

  • 11 commits ahead / 0 behind, 11 changed files, no inline review threads.
  • darwin_render_profile.py cryptographically validates the committed render-surface freeze before classification, then requires exact 18-tag / 38-template shape coverage; stale digest, count drift and new/missing shapes fail closed.
  • Math/reference semantics and all template semantics remain explicitly unresolved; nop remains inter-page-sensitive. Renderer semantics/implementation/equivalence, inter-page composition, literary-body identity/count/digests, >=300k admission, FantLab source match, diagnostic readiness and M2 remain closed.
  • Main structured provenance, render-surface source graph and public candidate page are synchronized with that boundary and persist no source prose.

Exact-head evidence:

  • all 16 PR-triggered workflows are now completed success;
  • dedicated run 35546120433, job 106172226254, checked out this exact SHA and passed 7 render-profile + 5 provenance tests plus deterministic profile rebuild;
  • independent artifact verification of 10616812708 matched the Actions ZIP digest sha256:12f3be444a4565f7aee5413aef9183487a072bfe9de47ae6b6d27fec05474fbb; it contains only the source-free 12,592-byte render-profile JSON, whose embedded canonical profile SHA-256 recomputes to 2ebcfea51282505c28824f54f6a1795bd7e87e2f958ac59f5c843e68c2066f3d;
  • Pages run 35546120447, job 106172226404, checked out the same SHA and passed the full 376-test standard-library suite, canonical site build and deterministic rebuild.

This is a COMMENT review, not self-approval. The exact-head evidence supports moving the PR to Ready and squash-merging while preserving every downstream gate as currently closed.
