chore(deps): upgrade dependencies and CI workflows - #335
Upgrade zip from 8.6.0 to 9 (9.1.1) in rustysnes-core and rustysnes-frontend, remediating RUSTSEC-2026-0367, RUSTSEC-2026-0368, and RUSTSEC-2026-0369, and update facade::extract_rom_bytes for zip 9's Result entry-name API.
Refresh Cargo.lock and fuzz/Cargo.lock under the pinned Rust 1.96 toolchain, upgrading rustls (0.23.43 -> 0.23.46), rustls-webpki (0.103.14 -> 0.103.16), webpki-roots (1.0.9 -> 1.0.11), and clipboard-win (5.4.1 -> 5.4.3).
Align wasm-bindgen (0.2.129) and wasm-bindgen-futures (0.4.79) across rustysnes-frontend, rustysnes-netplay, and crates/rustysnes-frontend/web/Trunk.toml.
cargo deny check (advisories, bans, licenses, sources all pass)
Note
Medium Risk
Zip 9 and lockfile-wide upgrades touch ROM loading, TLS (cheevos/ureq), Lua scripting, and the wasm build; behavior should be validated via existing CI, with zip extraction as the main functional surface change.
Overview
Bumps zip from 8.x to 9 in rustysnes-core and rustysnes-frontend (addresses reported RUSTSEC-2026-0367–0369) and refreshes Cargo.lock with a broad transitive update (e.g. rustls 0.23.46, thiserror 2.0.21, mlua/mlua-sys, ICU 2.4, syn 3.0.9).
The only application code change is in facade::extract_rom_bytes: zip 9 makes entry names a Result, so ROM discovery uses .and_then(Result::ok) and name.as_ref() when building a Path.
wasm-bindgen is aligned to 0.2.129 (and wasm-bindgen-futures 0.4.79) in the frontend, netplay, and Trunk.toml so the Trunk CLI pin matches Cargo.lock.
Reviewed by Cursor Bugbot for commit 0d9ab47. Bugbot is set up for automated code reviews on this repo. Configure here.
When a ZIP entry’s name cannot be read, ROM extraction skips that entry instead of failing on name_for_index. Readable, non-directory entries with .sfc, .smc, .fig, or .swc extensions remain eligible, regardless of case. This claim would be false if an unreadable entry stopped extraction or if a valid ROM entry no longer matched.
The change upgrades zip and aligns the stated wasm-bindgen versions across the frontend, netplay, and Trunk configuration. Lockfile changes and test or audit outcomes are not established by the supplied results.

- Update facade::extract_rom_bytes for zip 9 name_for_index Result return type
- Align wasm-bindgen (0.2.129) and wasm-bindgen-futures (0.4.79) across rustysnes-frontend, rustysnes-netplay, and web/Trunk.toml
- Refresh Cargo.lock and fuzz/Cargo.lock (upgrading rustls to 0.23.46, rustls-webpki to 0.103.16, webpki-roots to 1.0.11, and clipboard-win to 5.4.3)
The pull request updates ZIP and WebAssembly dependency versions. ZIP ROM entry matching now skips entries whose names cannot be retrieved.

Explanation
PASS: The full PR diff has no CHANGELOG.md hunk, but it introduces no listed user-visible behavior. It updates dependency and lockfile versions and adapts internal ZIP entry-name handling for zip 9. The existing load_rom ZIP extraction path and valid ROM selection remain unchanged; no emulator output, frontend feature, CLI flag, public API, or AccuracySNES cartridge content changes.
Full details: Docs-As-Spec
Explanation
The PR does not introduce an observable behavior change that requires a specification edit. The only source change in crates/rustysnes-core/ adapts extract_rom_bytes to zip 9: valid entry names use the same case-insensitive extension and directory filters, and entries whose names cannot be read remain skipped, as the base code skipped None names. The dependency and wasm version updates change build resolution only. No docs/core.md edit is therefore required.
Full details: Accuracysnes Bookkeeping
Explanation
The reviewed base-to-head diff changes only Cargo manifests, lockfiles, Trunk.toml, and facade.rs. It adds or removes no test under tests/roms/AccuracySNES/gen/src/ and no scene. The AccuracySNES bookkeeping checks are therefore not triggered.
Full details: No Panic On Untrusted Input
Explanation
No new .unwrap(), .expect(), or panic!() appears in the pull-request additions. The changed ZIP entry-name handling uses .and_then(Result::ok) and skips unreadable names. ZIP opening, entry access, and reading return EmuError::Archive. Existing panic-like calls remain inside #[cfg(test)] code.
Full details: Safety Comment On New Unsafe
Explanation
The pull-request diff adds no unsafe { ... } block and no unsafe fn. The only Rust change is the ZIP entry-name handling in crates/rustysnes-core/src/facade.rs; added-line searches found no unsafe or SAFETY: text. The check has no failure condition to apply.
