- AI is making a lot of language and framework choices superfluous, and it's going to continue. Don't be scared of it, learn to live with it, and how to use it well. It isn't going anywhere.
- Open Source is meant to be free as in freedom, not free as in beer.
- Prefer Go and Bun for most general computing use cases.
- Please stop writing TUI's in Rust. Rust is great for systems level programming. Not much else.
- Java should have been sunset a long, long time ago. Consider this my plea for you to stop using it.
- SQLite and Postgres for low read/write needs. Rocks, Cockroach, Cassandra and objects/flat files for high throughput.
- Always, always, always bias towards simplicity. That's how you maintain a scalable and extensible codebase.
- Complexity is the enemy. In a world full of React, be an HTMX. Don't add to the complexity of the world. Don't make your life more difficult than it needs to be.
