Comments on every PR with how its client bundle compares to main, ported from Docus.

  • bundle-size.yml: builds main and the PR in parallel with Nuxt's analyzer (build.analyze in a plain nuxt build), boots each build and snapshots it with the PR's scripts/bundle-size/report.mjs
  • Pages render at request time here, so the script fetches the HTML of /, /getting-started/introduction and /writing/components from the running build instead of reading prerendered files
  • bundle-size-comment.yml: validates the snapshots and posts or updates a single comment through GITHUB_TOKEN, no GitHub App or secret needed
  • The report script's tests run in the unit project

The first comment appears on PRs opened after this merges: GitHub only triggers workflow_run from the default branch.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Pull requests targeting the main branch now receive an automated bundle-size comparison, showing changes in total asset sizes and selected routes.
    • Reports highlight JavaScript, CSS, and other asset size changes, including compressed-size comparisons, plus modules with notable increases.
    • Reports are added as pull request comments when available; if a comment cannot be posted, the report appears in the workflow summary.

Note

The title starts with ci:, so PR Lens left this pull request undrawn. Comment @pr-lens draw to draw it

github.comment.notice: false in .github/pr-lens.yml turns this note off

📝 Walkthrough

This pull request adds bundle-size snapshot generation and comparison, workflows that build and package reports, and a workflow that validates and posts reports to pull requests.

Changes: Bundle size reporting

Layer / File(s) Summary
Generate and validate snapshots
scripts/bundle-size/report.mjs, scripts/bundle-size/report.test.mjs
The reporter measures emitted assets, route resources, and analyzer modules. It creates schema version 3 snapshots. Tests cover snapshot generation, route asset extraction, and page errors.
Compare snapshots and render reports
scripts/bundle-size/report.mjs, scripts/bundle-size/report.test.mjs, vitest.config.ts
The reporter validates snapshots and compares route, asset, and module sizes. Its CLI writes snapshots or reports. Tests cover comparison output, validation cases, and module identifiers. Vitest now includes the script tests.
Build snapshots and create a report artifact
.github/workflows/bundle-size.yml
The pull request workflow analyzes the base and PR revisions, uploads their snapshots, and combines them with the PR number into a report artifact.
Validate and post the report
.github/workflows/bundle-size-comment.yml
The workflow validates run metadata, the report artifact, and PR state before comparing snapshots. It updates or creates a marked PR comment. If commenting fails, it adds a warning and writes the report to the workflow summary.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "ci: report bundle size changes on pull requests" matches the main change. The PR adds workflows that comment bundle-size changes on PRs against main, backed by a snapshot/compare script, its tests, and a vitest config update. The title is short, specific, and uses a conventional commit prefix. It does not cover the base-versus-head snapshot design or the GITHUB_TOKEN-only comment flow, which is expected for a title.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 9.68% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 31 functions across 3 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.
