fix(biometric-credentials): revoke current credential without a usable key - #1074
Conversation
…ithout a usable key Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
…e key Look up the local record by app and user instead of the sign-in selector, so revocation no longer depends on biometric capability or key presence. Forget the local record when the server reports the credential is gone. Co-authored-by: Cursor <cursoragent@cursor.com>
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe revocation method selects the first locally stored credential. It returns success when no local candidate exists or when the server reports ChangesBiometric credential revocation
Priority: ⬇️ Low Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes Change: Bug fix Suggested reviewers: Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to If local deletion fails after the server reports the credential gone, revocation appears successful but leaves a stale local record. This is a bounded cleanup risk to fix or explicitly accept before merging. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 4 | ❌ 1❌ Failed checks (1 warning)

Why
revokeCurrentBiometricCredential()found the credential through the same selector that sign-in uses. That selector drops any credential the device can't use for a biometric check right now. So turning biometric sign-in off returned success without revoking anything when biometrics were unenrolled or the local key was gone. The server credential stayed active. When the key was missing, the selector also deleted the local record, so nothing on the device pointed to that server credential anymore.Revoking doesn't sign anything, so it shouldn't depend on biometric capability.
What changed
revokeCurrentBiometricCredential()looks up the newest local record for this app and user withcandidateLocalCredentials, then revokes it.resource_not_found, the method deletes the local record and succeeds. This keeps the old cleanup for credentials already revoked elsewhere, such as from the Dashboard.Scope
revokeCurrentBiometricCredential()only.revoke(id), sign-in, and availability are unchanged. The public API signature is unchanged (apiCheckpasses).revokeCurrentDeviceCredentialon iOS and Expo. A rename would be a public API change, so it's left for a separate PR.Blast Radius
This only affects
revokeCurrentBiometricCredential()and the biometric toggle inUserProfileBiometricCredentialViewModel, which calls it. Revocation now also works when the Dashboard feature flag is off. The server still authorizes the call.Verification
BiometricCredentialsTest: biometrics unsupported, local key missing, and credential already revoked on the server. All three failed onmain. In the first two, revoke was never called. In the third, the 404 came back as a failure. All three pass now../gradlew spotlessCheck detekt :source:api:apiCheck :source:api:testDebugUnitTest: 901 tests pass, and the format, lint, and API checks pass.🤖 Addressed by Cursor (Opus 5.5)
