This PR would benefit the entire community by providing a support for modern Linux distros with Python 3.
You can accept this one and reject #223 , #216 and #215

I wanted my kids to play some old games and made similar changes to the files as @maduranma. Without them, this is just abandoned software for a modern distro.

Please let us know how you want to proceed. Having a co-owner of this repo might be an option.

@lucianor Hey, sorry, I haven't paid much attention to this repo or used this software myself for a long time since most OSs these days have built in support for Dual Shock 4 controllers. I can add you as write access to this repo if you want.
