Implements the approved landing copy: free, Windows only, aimed at libraries, museums, schools, colleges and government offices, with real screenshots.

Landing page

  • Five sections instead of eight:

    1. Hero
    2. How it works: four steps, each with a real screenshot
    3. What you get
    4. Private by design
    5. Closing call to action

The workflow and privacy messages now appear once each.

  • Main button: on the website it's Download for Windows, linking to releases/latest. Inside the desktop app it reads Set up my archive or Open my archive instead.

  • Removed claims the code doesn't support: 99.8% accuracy, 10x throughput, MARC21/TEI, PDF/A-1b, FIPS/HIPAA/WCAG, and "AI inference". The hero graphic's captions now describe what the app does.

  • Screenshots were captured from the packaged app processing a sample 1954 library report. They are in public/screenshots/, about 300 KB of WebP in total, lazy-loaded.

  • Layout fixes:

    • The hero no longer overflows phone screens (it was 524 px wide on a 375 px screen).
    • The hero graphic's headings were dark-on-dark in the light theme; they're readable now.
    • The footer link row now wraps on phones.
  • Removed about 500 lines of CSS for sections that no longer exist. A rule was removed only when none of its classes appear anywhere in src/.

Bugs found while taking the screenshots

  • Toasts in dark theme: they could show pale text on a pale background. Toast.css followed the OS colour scheme and an undefined --color-text variable; it now follows the app's theme switch.
  • Metadata page: after editing in Cleanup, the "Extracted OCR text" panel and its Copy button showed raw editor HTML (<p>…). Both now show plain text.

Checks

  • eslint (no errors) and vite build pass.
  • Desktop end-to-end suite: 5/5 passed on the packaged Linux app.
  • Page checked at 1440 px (dark and light themes) and 375 px: no horizontal scroll.

Note

"Download for Windows" points to releases/latest, which returns a 404 until the first release (v1.3.0) is published.

- Toasts keyed their dark styles off the OS colour scheme and an undefined
--color-text variable, so with the app in dark mode they could show pale
text on a pale background. They now follow the app's data-theme switch
and use the theme's real colour variables.
- After editing text in Cleanup, the Metadata page's 'Extracted OCR text'
panel (and its Copy button) showed the editor's HTML (<p>...). Both now
  use plain text.

…y true claims

- Five sections instead of eight: hero, how it works (four steps with real
screenshots of the app), what you get, private by design, closing call to
action. The workflow and privacy messages each appear once.
- Main button is 'Download for Windows' (latest GitHub release) on the web;
inside the desktop app it opens or sets up the archive instead.
- Names the audience: libraries, museums, schools, colleges and government
offices. States it is free, for Windows 10/11, offline, 10 OCR languages.
- Removes claims the product does not support: 99.8% accuracy, 10x
throughput, MARC21/TEI, PDF/A-1b, FIPS/HIPAA/WCAG, 'AI inference'. The hero
graphic's captions now describe what the app actually does.
- Fixes the hero overflowing phone screens and the hero graphic's headings
turning dark (unreadable) in the light theme; removes CSS for sections that
  no longer exist.
