Make excludes an index filter, with an app-wide list and per-source overrides - #187
Conversation
…verrides Excludes move from a source field into the index filters, beside file types, tags and ignore files: - `[defaults.filters] excludes` is a master list every source inherits; a source's own `filters.excludes` replaces it, as every filter does. It starts with the System files preset, the old wizard's default. - Config v3 moves each source's `excludes` into its `filters`. An empty list, or the old wizard's default in either spelling, is dropped so the source inherits. A hand-written source-level list still loads, as an override. - Index filters gains an Excluded paths branch of presets, with its own legend, and an Excluded globs row under Rules you type. The text view never shows them: they prune folders before a file is read. - The source form loses its Excludes row; its Index filters edit them. - Add collection matches the source form: the collection's Name, then a bordered Source box holding the source's path and what gets indexed from it, Index filters before a path is set, and the frontmatter row editing the same rule as Index filters. - The freshness ledger reads old records in today's shape and compares excludes as a set, so neither the move nor a reorder reads Outdated; an excludes change reads as "Index filters changed". A source that excluded nothing now skips desktop.ini and Thumbs.db, so it reads Outdated. - Ticking a preset edits the excludes list in place, in the order it was written, so an inherited list is never saved as a source's own. - The tree picker and the custom-glob helpers it alone used are gone.

📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe pull request moves exclusions into index-filter configuration. It adds default inheritance, source overrides, legacy configuration migration, and TUI controls for preset and typed path globs. Index freshness checks and documentation now use the filter configuration shape. ChangesExclusion filter configuration and editing

- Line 64: In the walker’s directory traversal, add a descendant-aware check
against `excludes` before `stack.append((child, scope))`; skip matching
directories so they are never opened or traversed, while preserving existing
file exclusion behavior.
Review comments at @README.md:
- Line 369: Update the README’s `excludes` description to clarify that the
default `**/.*` blocks explicitly included dotfiles because excludes take
precedence. State that users should omit `**/.*` from the source’s
`filters.excludes` only when they need dotfiles, while retaining other needed
exclusions; clarify that `.obsidian/**` can include ordinary-named files without
this override.

The excludes filter promised that a matched folder is pruned unopened, but the walk only tested each file, so `archive/**` read the whole tree to drop it. A `name/**` glob whose prefix matches a folder now stops the walk at that folder; every path under it matches the glob, so nothing that would have been indexed is lost. The README also says that a file whose own name starts with `.` meets the default `**/.*` exclude even when an include names it.
Excludes become an index filter: one app-wide list every source inherits, with per-source overrides, edited on the Index filters screen.
What changes
[defaults.filters] excludesis the app-wide list; a source'sfilters.excludesreplaces it, as every filter does.excludesinto itsfilters. An empty list, or the old wizard default (in either spelling, since v2 respells released configs), is dropped so the source inherits.excludesstill loads, as an override.desktop.iniandThumbs.db, so it reads Outdated until its next update.--excludeCLI help updated.Testing
