📱 DBT Shortcuts

A collection of downloadable DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) iPhone Shortcuts designed to provide fast, structured access to DBT skills directly from your Home Screen.

These shortcuts are built to make skills:

  • Immediate
  • Simple
  • Structured
  • Accessible during overwhelm

📋 Requirements

  • iPhone running iOS 16 or later
  • Apple Shortcuts app (preinstalled on iOS)
  • Safari browser (recommended for downloading)

🚀 Installation Guide

Follow these steps for each shortcut you want to install.


1️⃣ Download the Shortcut from GitHub

  1. Open this GitHub repository on your iPhone using Safari.
  2. Tap the .shortcut file you want to install.
  3. Tap the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the file page.
  4. Tap Download.

2️⃣ Open the Downloaded File

  1. After downloading, tap the Download icon in Safari
    (located next to the URL/search bar at the bottom of the screen).
  2. Tap the downloaded .shortcut file.
  3. It will automatically open in the Shortcuts app.
  4. Scroll to the bottom.
  5. Tap Add Shortcut.

The shortcut will now appear in your Shortcuts Library.


⚠️ If You See “Untrusted Shortcut”

If your iPhone blocks installation:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Privacy & Security
  3. Tap Shortcuts
  4. Enable Allow Untrusted Shortcuts
  5. Try opening the downloaded file again

Note: You may need to run at least one shortcut before this option appears.


📲 Add to Home Screen (App-Style Icon)

To use the shortcut like a standalone app:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Tap the three dots (•••) on the shortcut.
  3. Tap the Share icon (square with arrow).
  4. Select Add to Home Screen.
  5. Rename if desired.
  6. Tap Add.

You’ll now see it as an icon on your Home Screen.


🧩 Add as a Widget

To access your shortcut quickly:

  1. Press and hold on your Home Screen.
  2. Tap the + in the top-left corner.
  3. Search for Shortcuts.
  4. Choose a widget size:
    • Small (1 shortcut)
    • Medium (multiple shortcuts)
  5. Tap Add Widget.
  6. Press and hold the widget.
  7. Tap Edit Widget.
  8. Select your DBT shortcut.

🛠 Troubleshooting

The shortcut won’t run properly

  • Make sure permissions are enabled.
  • Run it manually once before using the widget.

The widget doesn’t show the shortcut

  • Restart your phone.
  • Remove and re-add the widget.

🐛 Reporting an Issue

If you experience a problem:

  1. Go to the Issues tab in this repository.
  2. Click New Issue.
  3. Include:
    • The name of the shortcut
    • What you expected to happen
    • What actually happened
    • Your iOS version (if known)
    • Screenshots (if possible)

Clear details help resolve issues faster.

  3. Title it:

    Feature Request – [Short Description]

  4. Include:

    • What you’d like added
    • Why it would be helpful
