Preserve the published Kotlin JVM signatures. Adding defaulted parameters changes synthetic default-argument entrypoints. Adding a data-class constructor property also changes the generated copy entrypoints. Previously compiled Kotlin clients can fail with NoSuchMethodError; @JvmOverloads does not preserve those entrypoints. (kotlinlang.org)

I've reworded the PR description to say this.

@utkrishtsahu Thanks for clarifying. The description update can document the limitation, but it does not restore binary compatibility. @JvmOverloads does not preserve the old Kotlin default-argument or data-class copy entrypoints.
This finding remains open as a compatibility limitation, not a documentation issue.

Done. verification is now Map<PasskeyVerificationMethod, String> = emptyMap(), and it's left out of the request when empty.

Done: verificationRequired is a non-null list that defaults to empty. Gson skips Kotlin defaults for missing fields, so I added a small deserializer (registered in GsonProvider) and a test that checks a response without the field gives an empty list.

Added. It checks that mfa_required on a passkey sign-in is reported as MFA and is not treated as a verification retry.

Should we restrict this Map to be of specific types
Map<IdentifierType, String > instead of <String ,String> so that people can only pass definite values

yes enum or sealed class for identifier type would be better
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Done. I added PasskeyVerificationMethod (EMAIL, PHONE) and used it for the map key, verificationRequired and passkeyVerificationRequired. I made it a small class instead of a strict enum so an identifier the SDK doesn't know yet is kept rather than dropped, and so it works from Java as PasskeyVerificationMethod.EMAIL. I used that name instead of IdentifierType.

yes retryable would be for two cases
- error code is invalid_grant and authsession is present. In this case we need to return verification as well present in the error payload
- error code is invalid_request and authsession is present
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Done. isPasskeyVerificationRetryable is true for invalid_grant with an auth_session (the identifiers come back in passkeyVerificationRequired), and for invalid_request with either "Missing required parameter: verification…" or "…is not allowed to be empty". The second case has no auth_session, so the original challenge's session is reused. Both are covered by tests.

Done. I used a RequestValidator, as MfaApiClient does. A blank code fails with an AuthenticationException (a0.auth.verification_code_empty) before any network call, and a test checks that no request is sent.

Done, rephrased as suggested
- Add PasskeyVerificationMethod and use it for verification codes and identifiers - Retryable when invalid_grant has auth_session, or invalid_request for a missing/empty code - Reject blank verification codes before the network call - verification defaults to emptyMap; verificationRequired defaults to an empty list - Reuse passwordless.DeliveryMethod instead of PasskeyDeliveryMethod - Treat HTTP 429 as isTooManyAttempts; remove isTooManyRequests - Add mfa_required test; update passkey docs Co-Authored-By: Claude

- Retryable when invalid_grant or invalid_request carries an auth_session - PasskeyVerificationMethod is a plain enum; verificationRequired is nullable - Map plain-text 429 to too_many_attempts; keep isTooManyAttempts code-only - Validate blank codes before serializing; reuse the client gson - Update passkey docs and tests Co-Authored-By: Claude

Not every 429 means too_many_attempts. Keep isTooManyAttempts and the plain-text error code unchanged from main, and document checking statusCode == 429 for the signupWithPasskey rate limit. Co-Authored-By: Claude
- Send verification codes as-is; the server reports missing/empty codes - passkeyVerificationRequired is only set for invalid_grant - Docs: describe the two retryable cases, drop the rate-limit note Co-Authored-By: Claude
- Add signinWithPasskey(challenge, ...) that checks codes against verificationRequired before sending, and only sends the required ones - Fail locally with an invalid_request shaped like the server error for an empty map, a missing identifier, or an empty or whitespace-only code - Only invalid_grant with auth_session is retryable for now - Update KDoc, tests and passkey docs Co-Authored-By: Claude
- Report the first required identifier without a code, including for an empty map - Only reject empty codes; send whitespace codes and non-required codes as given - Local error carries only error and error_description Co-Authored-By: Claude
- Remove signinWithPasskey(challenge, ...) - Add verificationRequired (default empty) to the signinWithPasskey overloads; the codes are checked against it before sending - Update tests and passkey docs Co-Authored-By: Claude

Changes
Adds support for inline OTP identifier verification during native passkey signup. When a database connection requires OTP verification for an identifier such as email or phone,
/passkey/registerreturns the list of identifiers to verify, and/oauth/tokenaccepts the collected codes. Existing flows are unchanged when no verification is required.Added
PasskeyVerificationMethod(EMAIL,PHONE): enum for the identifiers that need a code. Identifiers the SDK doesn't know are skipped.PasskeyRegistrationChallenge.verificationRequired: List<PasskeyVerificationMethod>?: the identifiers that must be verified with an OTP before tokens are issued.nullwhen the server asks for no verification.signinWithPasskey(..., verification: Map<PasskeyVerificationMethod, String> = emptyMap(), verificationRequired: List<PasskeyVerificationMethod> = emptyList())(both overloads):verificationis sent as theverificationobject to/oauth/token, and left out when empty.verificationRequiredis only used on the client and is not sent. When it isn't empty, aRequestValidatorchecks, before any network call, that each listed identifier has a non-empty code. The first identifier without one fails the request with aninvalid_requestAuthenticationException(statusCode0), using the server's wording:Missing required parameter: verification.<id>or"verification.<id>" is not allowed to be empty.signupWithPasskey(..., deliveryMethod: DeliveryMethod? = null): optionaldelivery_method(text/voice) for phone OTP. This reuses the existingpasswordless.DeliveryMethod.AuthenticationException:isPasskeyVerificationRetryable: true when the error isinvalid_grantwith anauth_session, meaning a code was wrong and attempts remain.passkeyAuthSession: theauth_sessionfrom the error payload, if any.passkeyVerificationRequired: List<PasskeyVerificationMethod>?: the identifiers whose code was wrong. Only set when the error is retryable.Changed
