Summary

  • Adds a new e2e job to the CI workflow that runs the existing 9 Playwright smoke tests (tests/e2e/tests/smoke/)
  • Runs in parallel with the build job (both depend on lint) to minimize pipeline wall-clock time
  • Uploads the Playwright HTML report as a GitHub Actions artifact on any outcome for easy failure debugging
  • Includes a 15-minute job timeout to prevent stuck runs

Test plan

  • Verify the e2e job appears in the CI workflow run
  • Verify Playwright browsers install successfully on Ubuntu
  • Verify the smoke tests pass against the auto-started dev server
  • Verify the Playwright HTML report is uploaded as an artifact
  • Verify the e2e and build jobs run in parallel after lint

Wire the existing 9 Playwright smoke tests (tests/e2e/tests/smoke/) into
GitHub Actions as a new e2e job that runs in parallel with the build job
after lint passes. Uploads the HTML report as an artifact on any outcome
for easy failure debugging.

The dotnet run command in CI needs to compile and run first-time
startup tasks (migrations, seeding) which exceeds the 60s timeout.
CI runners don't have an ASP.NET dev certificate, so HTTPS fails
silently causing the webServer health check to time out. Use
http://localhost:5000 in CI while keeping https://localhost:5001
for local development.
dotnet run uses the https launch profile by default, which overrides
ASPNETCORE_URLS and requires a dev certificate. CI runners don't have
one, so the server starts on HTTPS but can't serve — causing login
redirects to https://localhost:5001 which times out. Use the existing
http launch profile in CI instead.
Firefox fails with NS_ERROR_NET_EMPTY_RESPONSE on unauthenticated
redirect tests when the server runs HTTP-only (UseHttpsRedirection
tries to redirect to a non-existent HTTPS listener). Since these are
smoke tests verifying app functionality rather than cross-browser
compatibility, Chromium-only is sufficient for CI.
