Statement of purpose
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that this is an API feature request and not a Marvin feature request. For a Marvin feature request I would use Product Board.

In the docs it states

Note: this endpoint previously returned done items but now only returns open items. Please get in touch if you need an endpoint that includes done items.

It would be great if this was supported because I want to be able to track completed tasks in a project or day.

A ?done=true query parameter for the children endpoint to get the done tasks
It would be great to also have this for the todayItems endpoint.

Describe alternatives you've considered
I would also consider an endpoint that returns done items within a certain time frame (eg. past week) for a project/category or all projects.

Good news on this: there is an undocumented endpoint that covers most of this request, and Marvin support confirmed by email (Aug 30, 2026) that it is intentional, considered stable, and planned to be added to the documentation.

Two gotchas from live testing (all verified 2026-08-30):

• It filters on the item's day (scheduled date), not on doneAt. Marvin keeps a past day when a task is completed (the app only sets day = today for unscheduled/future tasks), so a task scheduled Monday but completed Wednesday shows up under Monday's date. To answer "what was completed on date X", fetch a small window of days and filter client-side on doneAt.
• It returns tasks only — completed projects are not included.

There's no project/category parameter, so for "done items under a project" you still filter client-side on parentId, but combined with doneAt timestamps this covers tracking completed tasks per project or day.

If you want a working implementation to borrow from: amazing-marvin-complete-mcp exposes this as get_done_items — it fetches the date plus a lookback window (default 7 days) and filters on doneAt, caches complete responses for 30 minutes (each day in the window costs one read call against the daily rate limit, so repeated queries would add up fast), and returns an explicit coverage declaration (covers_from, and incomplete + the missing days if a 429 cuts the fetch short).
