📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Context-window detection now follows the selected model more consistently across supported providers, including VS Code language models.
    • A safe default is used when the selected model or required configuration is unavailable, including cases involving retired provider configurations.
    • Listed models from retired provider configurations can still resolve to their configured context window.

getContextWindow now uses the shared getModelId utility to select a model. Tests cover provider-specific model selection, VS Code LM selector precedence, and default context-window results when model or configuration data is unavailable.

Changes: Context window model selection

getContextWindow now uses getModelId instead of a local provider-specific resolver. Tests cover provider model fields, VS Code LM selector precedence, and default results when model or configuration data is unavailable.

Full details: Security Boundaries

Explanation

No changed path meets the security failure condition. apps/cli/src/lib/utils/context-window.ts:14-29 only resolves a provider model ID, reads routerModels, and returns a numeric context-window value. The new getModelId path dispatches known provider definitions or retired-provider identifiers (packages/types/src/provider-settings.ts:349-359); it does not expose secrets or PII, execute input, or bypass approval or allowlist controls.

Full details: Persistence Integrity

Explanation

PASS. The pull request changes only context-window resolution and its tests. getContextWindow reads routerModels and ProviderSettings, then returns a value or an in-memory fallback. The imported getModelId also only reads provider settings. No persistence, write, rollback, or default-propagation path changed.

Full details: Lifecycle Resource Cleanup

Explanation

PASS. The pull request changes only context-window model lookup and its tests. The changed path calls the synchronous getModelId accessor and performs an in-memory lookup; it does not create or manage listeners, watchers, timers, tasks, subscriptions, or other resources. No cancellation, disposal, restart, or duplicate-work path was introduced.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description explains the refactor and includes a checklist, but it does not link an approved GitHub Issue and omits the required Test Procedure, Documentation Updates, and Additional Notes sections.

Resolution

Link an approved GitHub Issue, add the required Test Procedure with reproducible test steps and environment details, and complete the remaining template sections, including Documentation Updates and Additional Notes where applicable.

Full details: Regression Evidence

Explanation

The refactor changes getContextWindow for VS Code LM when apiModelId is set without vsCodeLmModelSelector: the base helper returned apiModelId, while the new shared getModelId returns only vsCodeLmModelSelector?.id. The changed tests cover selector-present cases, but no focused CLI test covers this unset-selector fallback or asserts the intended default behavior. The existing no-selector case covers GitHub Copilot only.

Resolution

Add a focused getContextWindow test for providerIdentifiers.vscodeLm with apiModelId set and no vsCodeLmModelSelector. Put that model in routerModels and assert the intended result, likely DEFAULT_CONTEXT_WINDOW if provider definitions are authoritative. Add a selector-without-id case for VS Code LM if that persisted state is supported.

Current step: The required review sequence passed. Remaining merge requirements apply.

Review-state labels are managed by this workflow; do not edit them manually. community-approved is managed the same way — do not add or remove it manually. It signals a fresh community code approval for the current head as an advisory priority only; maintainer review is still required.

getContextWindow carried its own switch mapping each provider to the
settings field holding its model ID. That duplicated the per-provider
accessors in @roo-code/types and had to be updated by hand whenever a
provider was added.

Call the canonical getModelId() instead, which dispatches to each
provider definition's accessor, and drop the switch.

Cover the shared apiModelId providers, VS Code LM selectors, cross-
provider field isolation, retired providers, and missing inputs.

Would this test catch a regression where getContextWindow falls back to apiModelId when the selector has no id, for example getModelId(config) ?? config.apiModelId? Here the selector id is set, so the fallback never runs. A case with apiModelId set and no selector, expecting DEFAULT_CONTEXT_WINDOW, would pin the behavior this PR changes for vscodeLm.
