NASA Systems Engineering Workspace

This is the authoritative systems engineering documentation package for the UA NASA Robotics Lunabotics team. It adapts the NASA Systems Engineering Handbook life-cycle structure to the Lunabotics competition calendar. The NASA handbook and Lunabotics guidebook source files stay at the root. Traceability references and phase-specific source maps live in context/. Phase entry and exit checks live in Checklists/. Controlled templates live in Phase Deliverables/. Filled examples live in Phase Deliverables Examples/.

All team members SHALL use the checklists and templates in this repo as the governing documents for their phase work. Changes to baselines must follow the configuration control rules documented in the active SEMP.

School-year roadmap

Use this as the at-a-glance plan for an August to early May academic year. It assumes Pre-A through Phase B are closed before winter break so spring can be used for build, integration, readiness, and operations. The month-by-month version with activity details, gate criteria, and competition submission deadlines lives in context/school_year_se_timeline.md.

Note on dates: The Gantt chart below is projected for the 2026-2027 academic year and the corresponding Lunabotics competition season. Confirm actual competition event dates and submission deadlines against the current Lunabotics Guidebook when it is released each year. The source file in this repo (draft-lunabotics-word-clean-versions-no-formatting-9-5-25.md) covers the 2025-2026 season and is retained as the source of structural and scoring guidance until the 2026-2027 guidebook is available.

IPT ownership handoff

Use this to show when the team stops treating subsystem leads as provisional contributors and starts treating them as formal owners. Systems and PM keep baseline control the whole year, but the main handoff to IPT-led execution happens at the Phase A gate on entry to Phase B.
