- Line 160: Escape BlockConfig.type values before interpolating them into quoted
CSS selectors in the block, inline-content, and style parse rules in createSpec;
reuse one shared escaping approach across these selectors. Add regression tests
covering regular and layout blocks with type names containing quotes or
backslashes.

Walkthrough
The block parse rules now quote block type values in the regular and layout selectors. The block container’s selector uses a template literal, with no change to the resulting selector.

Summary
Block parse selector construction packages/core/src/schema/blocks/createSpec.ts, packages/core/src/pm-nodes/BlockContainer.ts
The regular and layout block parse rules now quote the block type in their attribute selectors. The block container selector uses a template literal without changing its value.
TypeCellOS/BlockNote#3285 — The PR quotes block type values in the regular and layout selectors, but does not add escaping for quotation marks or backslashes.

Merge Risk: Low · up to 20a1d
This change fixes pasting for block types that contain colons. Block types containing quote or backslash characters can still break the generated selectors, but such names are unusual. Consider adding shared escaping and tests as a follow-up, though the change is mergeable as is.

Explanation
The PR changes three selector lines, and each line is part of the block-type selector work named in #3285. createSpec.ts changes the data-node-type rule for layout blocks and the data-content-type rule for regular blocks. BlockContainer.ts changes the div[data-node-type=...] selector, which the PR objectives list as part of the same change. The change in BlockContainer.ts only converts the string concatenation to a template literal with quoted value, so it does not alter other behavior. No unrelated files or behavior changes appear in the reviewed diff. The PR has no added tests, but tests are not an out-of-scope change.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #3285 has one direct linked issue with coding requirements. (1) Quote the block type value in the parse selectors for data-content-type and data-node-type. Met. createSpec.ts line 160 now uses [data-node-type="${config.type}"] and line 169 uses [data-content-type="${config.type}"]. This fixes the reported colon case, because a quoted attribute value accepts :. (2) Escape " and \ in the value, or use CSS.escape(). Not met. The issue expected result states that a block type with any character valid in a JSON string should parse like any other. The PR adds no escaping, and the PR description says so. A type containing " or \ still produces an invalid selector, so the paste failure remains for those types. The changed code does not implement the escaping option the issue names.
Resolution
Escape the block type before it is interpolated into the selector in all three places: the layout-block and regular-block rules in packages/core/src/schema/blocks/createSpec.ts, and the BlockContainer parseHTML selector in packages/core/src/pm-nodes/BlockContainer.ts. Either replace \ with \\ and " with \" before quoting, or use CSS.escape() on the value. Use one shared helper so the three selectors stay consistent. Add a unit test that parses a block type containing " and one containing \, and confirms the rule matches the element.

A rabbit checks the selector line, And finds the type enclosed just fine. The colon stays within its place, As pasted blocks can find their trace. One template shifts, its value stays, Then hops along its parsing ways.
Escape block type names in all quoted CSS selectors.
BlockConfig.type permits arbitrary strings, but the block, inline-content, and style parse rules interpolate those strings without escaping. A type containing " or \ can alter or invalidate the selector. Add shared escaping and regression tests for regular and layout blocks.
The narrow edge case supports a minor correctness issue, not the original major claim that clipboard parsing can fail for the entire editor.
