fix(core): formatting toolbar stuck after a tap on iOS Safari's address bar - #3259
Open the editor in Safari on an iPhone, with some text in it.
Select text with the native iOS selection.
Tap the collapsed address bar (circled in red):
The keyboard closes, but the formatting toolbar jumps up to the selection and stays there. Taps don't dismiss it:
Without a selection, the keyboard just closes. The green text is a temporary debug log: after window blur, the editor is still document.activeElement, and no focusout follows.
The video shows these steps before and after the fix. With the fix, the toolbar no longer gets stuck.
touch-selection-fix.mp4
Cause
The tap blurs only the window. The editor keeps DOM focus, no focusout fires, and the desktop toolbar shows over the surviving selection.
Fix
On touch devices, a window blur also blurs the editor, and a blur collapses the selection.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved mobile formatting-toolbar behavior when the editor loses focus: selections are cleared, and the desktop toolbar stays hidden after refocusing with the keyboard closed.
When the browser window loses focus, the editor now relinquishes focus so its selection and toolbar update appropriately.
Preserved the selection and toolbar visibility when the window blurs without the editor actually losing focus.
On iOS Safari, a tap on the collapsed address bar closes the keyboard and
then hands focus back to the editor without it. The selection survived the
blur, so the formatting toolbar showed again, as the desktop toolbar since
the keyboard is closed, and without the keyboard no tap cleared the
selection. On touch devices, collapse the selection once focus has left the
editor and its UI. Desktop keeps the selection across a blur.
A tap on iOS Safari's collapsed address bar blurs only the page: WebKit fires
`blur` on the editor without `focusout` and leaves it as
`document.activeElement`. `onFocusChange({ includeEditorUI: true })` never saw
that blur, so the selection survived it, and the editor got focus back without
the keyboard. On touch, blur the editor along with the window so the existing
handler collapses the selection.
Dispatch `blur` on the editor before the window, as WebKit does. The test then
pins that the fix reads `document.activeElement`, not a focus flag the
element's `blur` has already cleared. Cover the desktop side too: a blur of
only the window keeps focus, the selection and the toolbar. Blur through
`editor.blur()`.
On touch devices, editor focus loss moves a non-empty selection near its head. A window blur blurs the editor if it remains focused. New browser and mobile tests check selection, editor focus, and toolbar visibility after focus changes.
The toolbar can reappear after an address-bar tap in image-only documents. This is a narrow UI issue; the change is mergeable with owner awareness or a follow-up fix.

Explanation
The description follows the repository template's core sections. It has a problem summary with reproduction steps, a Cause section, and a Fix section. It also includes a demonstration video. It lacks the Rationale, Changes, Impact, Testing, Checklist, and Additional Notes sections. The Testing section matters most, because the PR adds browser and end-to-end tests but the description does not mention them.

Handle selections with no text cursor.
In a touch document that contains only image blocks, Selection.near(tr.selection.$head) can return a non-empty NodeSelection or AllSelection. shouldShow() accepts these selections, so the toolbar can reappear on focus without a new selection action. Keep the toolbar hidden until a new selection action when no empty text cursor is available. Add an image-only case to the touch test.
