test: clear lifecycle interruption traces after each case - #2409
Clear shared interruption trace state during lifecycle test cleanup, after pending writes finish.
Record any trace entries a tracing-disabled case leaves behind before each reset, and assert at suite end that none were recorded. The previous cleanup let a later shutdown test read an earlier abort event (the seed-101 shutdownInterruptionTrace failure).
Reviewed CONTRIBUTING.md and AGENTS.md.
Impact
User-facing impact: none; test cleanup only.
Developer/maintainer impact: removes a reproducible seed-101 dependency between lifecycle and shutdown tracing tests.
Testing
Before: the two-file randomized seed-101 order had 28 passes and one shutdown failure. The new boundary assertion also fails with the old cleanup.
After: both affected files pass individually and together with seeds 101, 4242, and 2027. The two-file run has 29 passes and zero failures. The reduced two-case repro and bun run build pass.
The current whole-repository seed-101 order runs shutdown before the producer and passes that case; the reduced order exposes the leak.
Leak check (ccf6eab5): temporarily removing the reset makes the suite-end assertion fail (28 pass / 1 fail); restored. Affected files at ccf6eab5: seeds 101, 4242, 2027 each 28 + 1 pass, paired 29 pass; original seed-101 order 29 pass; bun run build passes.
Full validation on 98d2e013, compared against main at the same seeds (the follow-up commit only changes how this test file checks for leaks):

Notes
Provider path tested: lifecycle request fixtures; no live service required.
Screenshots: not applicable; no presentation changes.
The old comment said resetting here crashed Bun 1.3.13 in later isolated files; the full shard runs show no new crashes or failures compared with main.
The loadSkillsDir seed-101 notification failures noted earlier no longer reproduce on current main, so they are not part of this PR.

Merge readiness
The pull request is still a draft (mergeable_state: blocked on GitHub is consistent with draft status rather than a merge conflict). behind_default_count is 0 against main at review time, and the chosen three-dot range is 6712d5a78cd71c47dedceae938cd106dc4664c0b..98d2e01382a0a96cd4a0732218425b88c57eb07c (live-base-three-dot). Required CI checks on the pinned head are green. Mark ready for review when the author intends merge; no rebase was required for this head.

Environment restoration does not precede the cleanup check.
isInterruptionTraceEnabled() runs before the envKeys restoration loop, so the check reads the per-case environment state. The reported false suite failure is not supported.
Walkthrough
The Claude lifecycle test records nonempty interruption-trace snapshots during cleanup when tracing is disabled. After the suite completes, it asserts that no unexpected snapshots were recorded.

Summary
Trace cleanup and suite assertion src/services/api/claude.lifecycle.test.ts
When tracing is disabled, afterEach records a nonempty trace snapshot before resetting the trace. afterAll asserts that no unexpected snapshots were collected.
The lifecycle test cleanup now checks for stale traces before clearing them. No actionable merge risk remains after normal checks.

Explanation
The title "test: clear lifecycle interruption traces after each case" names the main change: the lifecycle test now clears shared interruption trace state after each case. It is concise, uses a scoped conventional prefix, and matches the test-only diff summary. The title does not mention the new suite-boundary assertion, which is a secondary part of the change.

Explanation
PASS. The PR changes only lifecycle-test cleanup and interruption-trace assertions in src/services/api/claude.lifecycle.test.ts. It does not change authentication, provider routing, permissions, outbound network behavior, background execution, startup/config-home behavior, skills/plugins/MCP, CI permissions, or release scripts. No risk-surface disclosure or blocker callout is required.
Full details: No Hidden Policy Change
Explanation
PASS. The PR changes only src/services/api/claude.lifecycle.test.ts. It adds test-only interruption-trace capture, reset, and suite-boundary assertions. It does not change product routing, telemetry/network behavior, trust rules, permissions, or defaults. The existing trace-enabled test cases still set OPENCLAUDE_INTERRUPT_TRACE themselves; the new code only observes and clears test state.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description follows the template's Summary, Impact, Testing, and Notes sections and is detailed. It states what changed (shared interruption trace state cleared after pending writes, plus a suite-end assertion) and why (a seed-101 shutdown test read a stale abort event). Impact is stated as test-only with no user-facing change. Testing gives before/after seed results, a leak check, and a full validation table on commit 98d2e01. Gaps: the template's checklist item for the local preflight is not ticked, and the description says full preflight was still running when written, so the final preflight result is not confirmed. The Notes section gives the provider path, and screenshots are marked not applicable. Some sections are not fully aligned to the template wording (for example, no explicit 'focused tests' label, and 'documented skipped checks' is only partially covered). These gaps are minor and do not block the description from being useful.

- Line 563: Update the final trace assertion in the lifecycle test suite to
observe the trace before the afterEach cleanup resets it, so it can detect
entries left by the final test. If the intended contract is only that cleanup
resets the trace, remove this assertion rather than checking the already-reset
state.
