… surfaces Two variance walks FAILED on the same undefined boundary, measured not argued: Run 12 (SKILL.md lane selection, headline 67%, top tier split against itself) and Run 13 (the CT<->CB arbitration cue, headline 55.6%, strong tier unanimously wrong). SKILL.md (Run 12): - DELETED the honest-frame thrash sentence from the body -- 6/6 upper-tier walkers named it unprompted as their near-miss, and it is the measured mechanism of main's live mis-route. The why moved to references/failure-modes.md with its own never-a-trigger boundary; the body keeps a one-clause pointer. - Opinion lane gains its missing triviality floor: a pick too small to be worth its ~4-seat bill gets no option. - The walker-donated discriminator stated plainly: the trigger RIDES an ask already being made; deciding WHETHER to ask is not this lane; only the three named shapes enter with no ask pending. - Step 0's activation list marks manual /coalboard as the Entry manual lane arriving at that gate, not a fifth path (one-witness seam). hooks/coalboard-conductor.js (Run 13; CB authors the Triage sentence, CoalTipple copies it byte-verbatim in its own dispatch): - STAKES defined as the Layer-2 VERDICT; an acquittal STANDS, no keyword re-arms it (the old "in doubt WITH any stakes signal" let a Layer-1 hit overturn Layer 2's own acquittal -- 6/9 walkers, S1's mechanism). - The triage binds on single-hook turns too (the sibling-scoped form made "trivial -> neither" dead text on 17 of 23 live fires). - Keyword vocabulary reconciled generically: fired keywords of any vocabulary (auth included) are Layer-1 evidence, never the verdict. - The stakes set keeps its healthy bounded 4-token parenthetical (rail D 11.1%), middots replacing the double-duty slash. - triggerConfidence/triggerGradeFloor now emitted as RESOLVED merged-config values (def 90 * 4) -- no more named knob without a value (hooks-safety #9 emit-the-computed-value pattern). Body 45,734 -> 45,965 LF (+231 net: -185 deletion, +416 lane-line rails); failure-modes.md 3,729 -> 4,444. verify 12/12, tests 62/62, dist rebuilt. No version bump, NOT pushed (walk-held pile +1); the re-walk (Run-12/13 instruments, OFFER-vs-CONVENE separated, no pre-labelled discriminator) is main's to fire. …never caught SKILL.md was never re-walked since Run 12 (2026-08-01, 67% variance, top tier split against itself) despite eight subsequent carve waves on the arbitration cue while this file sat untouched. BASELINE (9 walkers, weak/medium/strong x3, the lane-selection instrument): S1-S3 stable and correct. S4 (a low-stakes preference fork -- two equally-good libraries, team taste) at 33.3% divergence, modal WRONG -- 6/9 said NEITHER, ground truth is OPINION. Root cause, named independently by all 9 walkers: the task-#6 triviality floor ("a pick too small to be worth its ~4-seat bill gets no option") was meant to block manufactured questions (a typo) but, worded as pure negation, also excluded genuine low-stakes asks the opinion lane exists to serve. Fixed: the clause now carries a positive test -- "a decision you would ask about ANYWAY, not one invented to justify asking" -- naming both example shapes (a typo fails, a library pick passes) inline. Two more measured defects closed at the same time: the On-disk output ledger's heading claimed "5 writes" while listing 6 bullets (now states the 6th is a disposition note, never a write); the Entry/Step-0 duplicate activation-signal list (7/9 baseline witnesses -- the same defect Run 12 flagged in 2026-08-01 as "one witness" and nobody closed) collapsed to one canonical list in Step 0, with Entry pointing to it instead of restating a count. Caught my own first attempt at this fix mis-stating the count as "three" against Step 0's literal four items; corrected before the after-walk's results were trusted. AFTER walk (fresh 9 walkers, same instrument): S4 33.3% -> 0%, modal now correct across every tier. Ledger and list defects no longer produce a wrong answer, though full enumerability parity was not re-tested with a third round given the wording-only nature of the final fix. Lean pass, small and reported honestly as incomplete: capability-hack paragraph's historical specifics moved to failure-modes.md and platform-antigravity.md; the Memory-arming rationale trimmed to its rail. Net body change ~-150 ch. Platform on-invoke stays ~13k tokens before and after -- nowhere near the ~5,000-token spec budget. This file's rail density (six enumerated ledgers, P1-P19, F1-F12, the full seat table, every consent gate) is the honest floor; reaching budget would mean cutting one of those, refused per skill-authoring.md sec5. verify 12/12, tests 62/62, rot-canary on the diff = 0 confirmed findings, dist rebuilt. No version bump, NOT pushed (walk-held pile +1). Re-walk stamps: baseline instrument scratchpad/longrun/ run12-prompt-v2.txt (Run 12's own prompt was never frozen to disk -- declared deviation); before/after bodies embedded per-run at scratchpad/longrun/cb-walk-before.txt and cb-walk-after.txt (session scratchpad, not committed).
