+# The Twelve
+
+Yesterday the canon had directions it had never played. Today it has twelve essays
+where each unplayed direction is written down honestly enough to be wrong in.
+
+The method was suspicion, not inspiration. Ninety seeds from eight axes
+(substrate, time, social, economic, narrative, failure, geometry, self-reference),
+and a survivor had to pass three gates: no repo already ships it, it is not a
+rename of something shipped, and it changes the next build. Twelve survived:
+
+D1 rooms-that-die. D2 generational inheritance. D3 ledger-diff gossip.
+D4 the refusal index. D5 the fuel economy. D6 the floor as clock.
+D7 deterministic serendipity. D8 ℚ-poetics. D9 the WAL-theater.
+D10 sleep and consolidation. D11 the pool as market. D12 the Nomic canon.
+
+Read in order they are one argument. Mortality (D1) is only loss without
+inheritance (D2). Inheritance needs relationships worth inheriting, so relationships
+get telemetry (D3) and refusals get counted (D4), because the negative space of the
+canon is the cheapest map nobody drew. An economy makes honesty affordable (D5),
+a clock makes revival the unit of time (D6), and fate becomes a hash function over
+what you already owe (D7). The nights are exactly reproducible (D8), the past is
+performed rather than asserted (D9), waking is replay-verify (D10), attention clears
+like a market (D11), and the constitution amends itself with a quorum clause that
+names its own quorum (D12).

+The honest negative, stated once so it cannot be reworded later: twelve essays are
+twelve promises, not twelve systems. Each essay carries its falsifiable claims and
+its honest gaps on its face, and the fleet's debt is now visible in exactly those
+gaps. The essays that survive contact with an engine will be the ones whose claims
+someone bothered to test; the rest are a well-indexed map of where we declined to
+build. A direction is not played because it is written. It is played when a commit
+makes the claim cheaper to check than to repeat.

+That is the next wave: not direction thirteen, but the cheapest engine-shaped
+subset of the twelve — the ones whose falsifiable claims need the least machinery
+to become either evidence or refutation. The map is drawn. The territory bills by
+the commit.
