What happened
Claiming a preview store completed successfully, but the claim did not provision or offer Codex/ChatGPT management access to the resulting store. After finishing the claim flow I had to return to Shopify and complete a separate authorization flow before Codex could manage the store. Nothing in the post-claim experience signalled that a second step existed.
Steps to reproduce
- In Codex CLI, prompt: go to shopify.com/skill.md and create a store (installs shopify-onboarding-merchant).
- Follow the skill through preview-store creation for a new business.
- Complete the Save store / claim flow to create the account and keep the store.
- Return to Codex and ask it to manage the now-claimed store.
Expected
Either the connector authorization launches automatically after claim with a plain-language explanation of the access being granted, or the skill surfaces a clearly labelled "authorize your assistant to manage this store" step.
Actual
No handoff at all. Connection status was ambiguous, and management only worked after separately discovering and completing the authorization flow inside Shopify.
Impact
High. Clunky backtracking, uncertainty about whether the store is connected, and a broken transition from preview to management.
Suggested fix
Add a clearly labelled post-claim authorization step, or automatically launch the connector authorization flow with an explanation of what access is being granted.
