fix: make the unit tests pass on main and run them in CI - #70

- TurboQuant: add the missing barrier in the WHT encode butterfly. The cross-SIMD stages read their pair after another thread had written it, so encodes were nondeterministic for head_dim > 32. - Tests: pin MLX_ENABLE_TF32=0 so float32 matmuls are exact on M5, and add a test that checks the pin. - Tests: skip the ticket-cancellation test in DEBUG until the mlx-swift upstream sync brings ml-explore/mlx-swift#471. - IntegrationTesting: match the two-value Generation.chunk. - CI: add a Debug xcodebuild test job. Proposed changes
Fixes or explains the 11 unit tests that fail on main (7cc37a0) and the flaky TurboQuant bf16 test, and adds a CI job that runs the tests in Debug.
TurboQuant WHT encode race (real bug, production impact)
fusedEncodeWHTSourceread the butterfly pair from threadgroup memory and wrote its result with no barrier in between. For head_dim > 32 the pair is in another SIMD group, so encodes were nondeterministic and some indices were wrong: 1.4% at head_dim 128, 3.1% at 256, 9.1% at 512 (Gemma 4). Every TurboKV encode was affected.testWHTEncodeKernelIsDeterministicAndMatchesCodecfails without the fix and passes with it.testRawKeyModeBFloat16MatchesReference.Items 4–11: TF32 on M5 GPUs
MLX_ENABLE_TF32=0. TF32 keeps 10 mantissa bits, so a float32 matmul is only accurate to about 1e-3, which is the tolerance these tests use.MLXLMTestSupporttarget setsMLX_ENABLE_TF32=0in a C constructor, before MLX reads it, as MLX's own tests do. Production behavior is unchanged.Float32PrecisionTestschecks that a GPU float32 matmul matches the CPU to 1e-5 (a 512×256 · 256×512 matmul, since square shapes take a full-precision path). Without the pin it measures 8.2e-4 and fails, instead of eight tolerance failures elsewhere.Item 1:

Compiledconstructor readsinputsafter moving it, so fused kernel names lose their dtypes. A bf16 graph and an f16 graph with the same shape then share one Metal library, and the second one runs the wrong kernel. These tests fail only whenQwen35QLoRATests(bf16) runs first.IntegrationTesting
